News

Invincible Season 4 has premiered a full trailer ahead of its debut later this year.

The series is based on the original comic book series created by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley.

Fans of the comic should know that in this season — launching on Wednesday, March 18, on Prime Video — things are not looking any better for Mark Grayson/Invincible (Steven Yeun).

Last season of Invincible ended with a one-two punch of devastation for Earth and Mark. First, on Invincible Season 3 Episode 7 “What Have I Done,” several alternate dimension versions of Mark — unleashed by his nemesis Angstrom Levy (Sterling K. Brown) — rampaged across the world.

Without a moment to recover, the brutal Viltrumite Conquest (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) then came to Earth to live up to his name. That led to a world-shattering fight in Invincible Season 3 Episode 8 “I Thought You’d Never Shut Up.”

Mark is also still traumatized and wearing robotic casts on his still-healing limbs. Mark’s girlfriend, Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs), is struggling to regain her powers after a near-death experience fighting Conquest, too.

Invincible Season 4 is also heading into space.

Mark’s dad, Nolan/Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), and Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) show up to recruit Mark and his little brother, Oliver (Christian Convery). They’re preparing for a war against the Viltrum Empire.

This is the first time Mark and Nolan have seen each other since Season 2. They left things between them still frosty. When Mark asks his dad how he can trust him, Nolan simply says he’ll have to.

The Invincible trailer also includes shots of other heroes who’ll be fighting in the Viltrumite War, such as lion-faced Battle Beast (Michael Dorn); the armored Tech Jacket; the alien Space Racer; and the wise Thaedus (Peter Cullen).

Interwoven with the Viltrumite War scenes are brief appearances by other new villains this season. The shapeshifting radical environmentalist Dinosaurus (Matthew Rhys) sizes up Invincible. Meanwhile, alien warrior Universa (Danai Gurira) battles Atom Eve.

The Invincible trailer also teases the series’ original storyline involving the demon Damien Darkblood (Clancy Brown). Apparently, Mark will take a visit to Hell. The most exciting debut is saved for last: the Viltrumites’ Grand Regent Thragg (Lee Pace), who commands his troops to “leave none alive.”
