The Rule of Two continues to live on as the Galactic Empire is on the rise on Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. There’s only one person in the galaxy responsible for what’s to come: the elusive, vengeful Maul, who’s now only out for himself.

Disney+ released the teaser trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord following its showcase at Star Wars Celebration 2025. The series will premiere on Monday, April 6, on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere. Two episodes will be released weekly through May 4.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels give fans much more lore behind the lost agent of Palpatine. This trailer looks to bridge the stories of both shows closer together.

The teaser trailer presents Maul still on the run after making his escape in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. While the Galactic Empire is still trying to make its full transition, there are many criminals and bounty hunters who want to track the disgraced Sith Lord down.

With Maul being hunted down by the galaxy’s worst, his path of destruction eventually leads him to Devon Izara, a former Jedi who’s also being tracked by the Empire. Her master, Master Eeko-Dio-Daki, hopes to guide her on the right path, but the Empire’s involvement complicates things.

Although Maul’s present goal is to re-establish the criminal syndicate he once had, this Jedi Padawan opens up the door for him to continue his quest to find Kenobi.

However, given the time placement of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, the series could inevitably see Maul finding Malachor V, where he made his debut on Rebels.

As the unlikely duo is hunted by both criminals and the deadly Inquisitors, Maul and Devon must try to work together to escape the clutches of the galaxy’s newest threats. With help from other gunslingers and Force-sensitive allies, the two will face a new fight for their lives.
