Special Agent Garrity Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Episode 9 Review: It Feels Like The Fan is Smarter Than The BAU

Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Episode 9 Review: It Feels Like The Fan is Smarter Than The BAU

Criminal Minds, Reviews

While Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Episode 9, “Special Agent Garrity,” is a good episode, it undoubtedly makes the BAU look weak. Ever since the Fan came onto the scene, he has been making the BAU look like amateurs.

Emily and Tara realize part of their profile was wrong. They made a mistake that could have cost them their entire investigation. Even though it seems they quickly get back on their feet, the Fan is steps ahead, beating their plan once again.

Unlike unsubs we have seen before, the Fan has everything planned. Every step he takes is part of a larger plan that the BAU is yet to figure out.

However, as disappointing as it is to watch the BAU make mistakes, it is quite entertaining to watch everyone on the team take turns to make Crowley stumble. Luke dropping the coffee on the papers and Rossi playing dumb are among the best things we’ve seen this season.

Once again, it is Penelope Garcia who stands out. We must admit that this season Garcia has been at the top of her game. Not only does she continue to prove why she is the best tech person on TV these days, but she also proves she is the heart of the show.

Garcia is the soul that keeps the light on.

While Garcia stands out for her brilliance, Brian Garrity is the funniest character in this version of Criminal Minds: Evolution. The once annoying character has turned into a (semi)lovable person who makes sense within the larger picture of the show — probably why Emily calls him a friend at the end.

Special Agent Garrity trusts the BAU to be better than the Fan. He has the hope that we all hold on to every time we see the team make a mistake and figure out a way to amend it.

Garrity’s storyline has been quite exciting this season. But we must admit that the moment Emily is doing CPR on him feels quite bizarre. An empty church, Emily performing CPR, Garcia and Rossi joining her in singing I Will Survive feels like a fever dream.

But even though Crowley gets away, getting that win in watching Garrity stay alive (survive) gives the BAU the push they need to finally catch the Fan.

Sheila is essentially more necessary than Brian because she holds the key to Voit’s family. Now that the Fan has the information he needs and Voit has escaped prison, things will get heated.

There is something quite ominous about Rossi saying, “F*ck Voit. F*ck Lee Duval,” while hallucination-Rossi wishes Voit good luck. This feels like a clue as to how intense the end of the season will be.
