What to Expect from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Episode 1: Kicking Off With a Wild West Adventure
The crew of the Enterprise is back for a fourth season and kicking things off with a wild west adventure. The premiere episode, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Episode 1, “Valles Marineris,” starts out hot, blending genres and sending the crew millions of years back in time.
In addition to the Season 4 trailer and episode preview images, Paramount also released this clip from the first episode at SDCC last year. The clip shows what appears to be the crew responding to a distress call, only to get stranded themselves and, unbeknownst to them, sent back in time.
That’s about all we know at this point about the premiere episode, specifically, but we do have some hints about what to expect from the ten-episode season.
First, the showrunners have said that Season 4 will return to a more episodic style, with no big bad like some previous seasons. We can see in the preview material that there will also be other genre-blending episodes beyond the premiere, including one that involves puppets.
Another thing we know about Season 4 is that it leads into the series’s fifth and final season. That means much of Season 4 will be setting up the final chapter. That includes developing the relationship between Spock and Kirk and setting up exits for the main crew that weren’t part of the original Star Trek series.
Before we get to any of that, though, the crew has to make it through the first episode and get back to their own time.
