Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 Teaser Trailer Features Godzilla and Kong’s Newest Kaiju Threat

News

A new threat is rising from the depths in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 to challenge Godzilla and Kong’s dominion.

Apple TV released the teaser for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, which is set to premiere on Thursday, February 26. As fans return to this kaiju-abundant universe, the teaser gives some clues as to what the show’s human characters might face.

From Lee Shaw’s escapades throughout this layer of Hollow Earth to the mission of Keiko and the original Monarch, this teaser trailer certainly has much to present before Season 2 releases.

For one, the teaser trailer heavily features the debut of a new kaiju, better known as Titan X. Although the trailer only shows what Titan X can do on a minor scale, like sending the shockwaves that awaken Godzilla and Kong, more details about this monster have been released.

Titan X has been revealed to be some sort of “living cataclysm” whose purpose and power scale currently remains a mystery. It looks like Titan X is also capable of possibly breaking the barrier between Earth and Hollow Earth, which is seen in two previous scenes.

Although the threat of Titan X is the main highlight, this trailer also teases how the human storyline will be integrated into Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2. This particularly shows through Keiko, who’s been reunited with her daughter, Cate.

From what’s shown in the trailer, it’s a certainty that whatever Keiko faced with Shaw and Bill Randa and their discovery of Titan X will play a role in helping Cate, Kentaro, May, and the present-day crew defeat this new threat to the kaiju hierarchy.

Unfortunately for them, Godzilla and Kong still prove themselves to oppose the human characters as they’re shown to fight back against Monarch’s forces.

The arrival of Kong at the end of Season 1 certainly hinted at this being, and the teaser shows Kong in his grand presence.

It also looks like Shaw might survive whatever he faces in Hollow Earth. Since Shaw is shown still alive and talking to a suspicious figure, his influence in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 will continue to be felt.

Shaw’s presence within the Monsterverse will also continue as a spinoff prequel series will see Wyatt Russell executive produce and reprise his role. Joby Harold will also showrun and executive produce the series alongside Russell.

In addition, the guest cast of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 will include Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper, and Camilo Jiménez Varón.
