What to Expect from 9-1-1 Season 9 Episode 5: Día de los Muertos
Halloween’s not over yet! It’s spooky season for the 118 on 9-1-1 Season 9 Episode 5, “Día de los Muertos.”
Now that Athena and Hen are back on Earth, 9-1-1 will put the 118’s beliefs to the test just in time for Halloween. At the dispatch center, Maddie questions how a lost pumpkin can be an emergency, only for the promo video to cut to a giant, inflatable pumpkin rolling down a street.
Luckily, Athena is ready, saying, “In position to neutralize the suspect.” The episode’s promo video also teases what may be one of the jump scares — an emergency that involves a woman who supposedly has a demon inside of her.
Eddie seems in disbelief at the assertion. His stance is hardly surprising, considering 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 7, “Cursed,” unpacks why Eddie doesn’t believe in curses and jinxes.
It seems like “Día de los Muertos” will be another chance to learn more about Eddie. In the promo, he says, “People see things they can’t explain all the time.”
The photos for the episode also show that Ana Mercedes and Terri Hoyos will reprise their roles as Isabel Diaz and Aunt Josephina ‘Pepa.’ Mercedes last appeared on 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 6, “There Goes the Groom,” while Hoyos appeared more recently on 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 18, “Seismic Shifts.”
The promo also teases that Buck may move into a new place on “Día de los Muertos.” While he thinks there may be squirrels in the place, Maddie (in a very fun nod, considering Jennifer Love Hewitt starred on Ghost Whisperer) suggests ghosts.
