9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 6, “There Goes the Groom,” is the moment we have all been waiting for: Chimney and Maddie’s wedding.

Even though it isn’t the wedding that was planned, it is the wedding that suits them. Neither of them truly wanted the big white wedding and what they get instead is the perfect representation of their love.

Getting married at the hospital by Bobby, surrounded by the people who love them, is all they need to seal the deal on their love.

The events leading up to that moment, however, have us on the edge of our seats all throughout the episode. As Chimney walks around Los Angeles, we fear he won’t make it back home.

The flashbacks prior to the wedding day are the perfect explanation for the audience to understand what’s going on. We get to see Eddie and Buck enjoying the bachelor party with other people.

But most importantly we get to figure out why Chimney is confused and believes he still works at the karaoke bar. That is the most important piece of the puzzle.

The first clue we get that something is wrong with him is when he’s having dinner with his parents and mentions he is jittery and has a headache.

That’s followed by the man at the scene sneezing on him. Later the confirmation that the man was carrying the disease that is now affecting Chimney.

Every scene on 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 6, “There Goes the Groom,” is important to figure out Chimney’s disorientation and the fact that he is missing his own wedding.

The camera’s POV filming Chimney from below and shaky, helps us feel the disorientation he is experiencing. Just like him, we don’t know where we are and what’s really going on.

The blurry vision is a clear sign that something isn’t right with him.

The fact that he sees Doug points to a part of him still remembering his present. Maybe the fears he has for his marriage or what life could be with Maddie are represented in that terrible man.

And it is seeing his brother that gives us hope he will make it home. He is the guide Chimney needs to find his way back to the people who love him.

All these factors help us understand the gravity of his situation and how important it is that they find him.

Athena says it perfectly: Even if he has forgotten time, Chimney is still who he is.

That’s proven when there’s an accident at the street market, and he takes charge. He tells people to call 911, takes a look at the injuries and triages them, and doesn’t hesitate to save lives.

This is the essence of who Chimney is, and it won’t change even when he is sick.

The same way Athena’s essence shines through when she begins to lead the investigation from the wedding venue. And Maddie’s when she shows up at the dispatch office in her wedding gown.

One very wholesome moment that must be highlighted from 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 6, “There Goes the Groom,” is when Tommy arrives at the hospital.

It is obvious the two have kissed when Buck tells everyone Tommy is there. Buck’s parents look confused. Chimney wonders if they were a thing before his amnesia.

But the best reaction belongs to Hen and Karen who say it was about damn time. This gives Buck room to be himself without worries.

Once again, the 118 proves they are a family no matter what.
