9-1-1 Season 9 Episode 1 Preview: Eat the Rich
The 118 returns with more than a splash on 9-1-1 Season 9 Episode 1, “Eat the Rich.”
The season’s trailer gives context to Mark Consuelos’s guest-starring role. He will be playing Trip Howser, a billionaire tech giant who is swallowed by a whale. It’s unclear how Eddie will be able to save Trip from the whale, but the 9-1-1 trailer shows Eddie jumping off the bridge and into the ocean.
It also shows that Hen is the one who revives Trip, and he can only thank her by sending her to space. That’s right — part of the 118 is going to space.
Hen brings the good news to her wife, Karen, who has always wanted to go to space. Instead of wanting to join Hen, Karen says, “I am a serious scientist. Trip Howser doesn’t care about serious science.”
So, Hen turns to Athena, who doesn’t have the best track record — the cruise ship and the plane landing, for example — with trips. Therefore, it’s less than surprising that Athena, Hen, and three other everyday heroes face a geomagnetic storm in space.
The 9-1-1 trailer also shows the return of Corinne Massiah and Elijah M. Cooper, who are now series regulars. Meanwhile, Anirudh Pisharody’s Ravi isn’t in the trailer, but he does appear in the photos for “Eat the Rich.”
The promotional materials for “Eat the Rich” also provide a glimpse at the dedication ceremony that will rename the station to “Captain Robert W. Nash Memorial Station 118” to honor Bobby Nash after his death.
