It’s still going to be a while before fans will know who made it out alive after the Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 cliffhanger. Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 is set to premiere on Thursday, October 9th at 10/9c.

The Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 premiere will follow the season premiere of 9-1-1 and the series premiere of 9-1-1: Nashville.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 ended with an explosion, putting the lives of most of the surgeons in question. Meredith witnesses the explosion from outside, not long after making a decision to return to Grey-Sloan during the summers when she’s able.

That means we know she’s safe, and it’s also been confirmed that Ellen Pompeo has been contracted to appear in seven episodes of Season 22

The end of that finale episode also shows that Ben is safe. As for everyone else, we’ll have to wait and see.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 will consist of 18 episodes. The record-breaking renewal of Grey’s Anatomy was announced in April, along with renewals for 9-1-1, The Rookie, and Will Trent.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 is currently streaming on Netflix.
