Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sequel Series Adds Five to Cast

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, News

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series on Hulu has added five new cast members to its pilot.

The new additions include Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned) as Hugo, Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU) as Larkin, Sarah Bock (Severance) as Gracie, Daniel di Tomasso (Major Crimes) as Abe, and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Frasier) as Mr. Burke. TV Line reports that they are all series regulars.

Any descriptions of their character remain under wraps, along with any details about the untitled show’s plot. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is set to recur as Buffy Summers in the new series, shared a production update on Instagram earlier this week, with the caption reading, “Baby steps.”

Variety confirms that Rakotohavana, Jean, Bock, di Tomasso, and Cutmore-Scott join Gellar and the show’s previously announced new Chosen One, Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

Gellar shared an Instagram video of Armstrong learning that she got the role in May 2025. In part, the caption read, “From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side.”

“To have that kind of emotional intelligence and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.”

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series was originally announced to be in the works in February 2025. That announcement came with the news that Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman were attached to write, showrun, and executive produce the untitled series.

“We are so overjoyed to have found this generation’s slayer in Ryan Kiera Armstrong, she absolutely blew us away — there is no question in our mind that she is the chosen one,” the Zuckermans said in response to Armstrong’s casting, per Variety.

Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao is attached to direct the show’s pilot and executive produce under her Book of Shadows production banner.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series’ other executive producers include Gellar and Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will executive produce via Suite B, while Dolly Parton will executive produce via Sandollar. Berman, the Kuzuis, and Parton were all executive producers on the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer

20th Television and Searchlight Television will produce the show.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series will stream on Hulu.
