Lamorne Morris Reacts to His Emmy Win for ‘Fargo’ [Video]

EMMYS, Fargo

Following his win for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series, Lamorne Morris spoke with reporters backstage at the 76th Emmy® Awards about his work on the show and his reaction to winning.

“I didn’t prepare a speech, so my expectations were not to win,” Morris laughed. “I mean, the nominees are insane. I just assumed Robert Downey Jr, you know, I thought Jonathan Bailey maybe.”

“I wasn’t expecting to get nominated,” he continued. “But, you know, obviously, it’s been a testament to Noah Hawley believing in me. So, I messed up. I forgot a lot of people’s names, and for that, I’m so, so sorry.”

Morris shared what it was like hearing his name called during the awards show and gushed about his fellow castmates from Fargo.

“I keep thinking that somebody’s going to run and steal this shit from me,” he joked. “I just can’t believe it. This feels a bit like a dream. I kind of spaced out for a while when they called my name. But honestly, I’ve got a great squad around me, my whole team. They work really hard to put me in positions to be successful. And so it’s them, it’s those other folks that have helped me out. My whole cast, man, this whole cast was killer.”

“So I’m so grateful to be a part of that squad as well,” Morris continued. “This is a dream come true. Obviously, for an actor, you long for those days where you’re being recognized. And it’s a bit validating. And so I’m just gonna enjoy it.”

Morris also talked a bit about his daughter’s reaction to the nomination.

“She doesn’t quite understand what daddy does. Yet she’ll see daddy on a billboard or on something, and she’ll just point it out. And sometimes she goes to work with me. So hopefully she’s getting used to it, because, you know, I plan on working for a while,” Morris said.
