Agatha All Along Season 1 Episode 3, “Through Many Miles of Tricks and Trials,” puts our coven to their first test as they walk down the Witches’ Road.

What we get throughout the hour is a glimpse of our witches’ past comes back to haunt them. There’s quite a lot to unpack during this episode, but this may be a tease of some of the horrors that will come in the show, and we are here for it.

During this installment, Agatha and her misfit team of witches go through the first of their trials, which tests their skill set and faces their fears.

There is another throwback to WandaVision where our characters find themselves in a house where they magically change their clothes into a suburban look. Props to the costume design and production team for the amazing set design and outfits that look like something out of The Wizard of Oz with a touch of Tim Burton.

Even though she is more of a supporting character, it is lovely to see Debra Jo Rupp reprising her role of Mrs. Hart from WandaVision. She has impeccable comedic timing with her portrayal of a Westview resident who unknowingly gets pulled into Agatha’s world.

Mrs. Hart has some funny moments on screen where some weird stuff always seems to be happening to her and it just makes the episode that much more fun to see.

She is a delight to watch, so seeing her apparent demise is a bit heartbreaking, but this show seems to be full of surprises so perhaps it’s not the last we’ve seen of her character.

Meanwhile, Agatha struggles to be the leader while being nefariously selfish, something that Kathryn Hahn continues to excel at with her character. She is very unpredictable as to where her allegiance truly lies, but it does keep audiences on their toes for what comes next for her.

We also get another piece of the puzzle regarding Joe Locke’s mysterious character. Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata) does mention that Agatha sacrificed her child to gain the Darkhold. It could be a possibility that the teen could be her child that she gave up, but it is too soon to jump to any conclusions this early in the season.

We do know that a sigil is placed on him, preventing any witch from knowing where he came from. The question remains, who would want to hide him from witches?

There are a couple of character moments we get to experience with some of our cast members as we discover each of their pasts when they get tranced into a hallucination during the trial.

Some creepy scenes showcase each of their fears, which brings a lot of the horror we might expect in Agatha All Along as the show progresses. It sheds a layer on these witches as we learn more about where they come from, and hopefully, we will get to explore that down the road.

One tidbit that was mentioned was the name Mephisto. This devilish character is a major character in the comics, so it’s good to see that the MCU acknowledges his existence. It’ll be interesting to see if he appears at all in this show. This should spurn up a lot more theories for fans.

Agatha All Along goes into some horror in this episode, making this one of the most engaging installments so far. With so much of that creepy factor, along with throwing some background info on our witches, it seems like the show is finally getting some footing with this cast.

Even though not everyone gets enough screen time, it is still enjoyable to see this cast getting into the thick of it through these trials as a group.
