The series follows the exploits of the Dutton Family, who control the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States of America. The Duttons must deal with various conflicts on their ranch, including solving murders, dealing with the neighboring town, and their relationship with the First Nations reservation nearby.

Kevin Costner led the cast of Yellowstone as the patriarchal John Dutton III. In June 2024, the star announced on Instagram that he had decided to leave the series.

“I don’t need drama,” Costner told The Hollywood Reporter in the summer. “So, let’s just take that drama away, let’s take the guessing [away]. The fans have been way too good to me. And my obligation is to go on and continue to make things that mean something to them.”
