You Renewed for Fifth and Final Season by Netflix
Joe Goldberg will say goodbye to You after the fifth and final season on Netflix.
The streaming service announced that the dramatic thriller series would end with its upcoming season, led by two new showrunners.
Per Variety, Sera Gamble, who originally developed You with Greg Berlanti and has helmed since it debuted on Lifetime in 2018, will step down with executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo taking over as showrunners.

“As I step back from day-to-day showrunning to focus on new projects, I’m immensely grateful to co-creator and all-around genius Greg Berlanti, Caroline Kepnes, my friends at Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment, and our steadfast partners at Warner Bros and Netflix,” Gamble said in a statement, according to TV Line.
“Making the show alongside our writers, producers, directors, cast, and crew has been an honor and ridiculously fun. And I feel lucky to have worked with an artist as gifted and thoughtful as Penn Badgely,” Gamble added.
“I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch. I’m excited to watch and support the YOU team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion,” Gamble concluded.
Gamble also took to Twitter to commemorate the news, writing, “It’s pretty incredible to get to tell the whole story. Justin Lo and Mike Foley are dream team showrunners. Thank you for watching and supporting the show.”

This renewal news comes slightly over a month after You Season 4 debuted on Netflix.
“You became an instant sensation on Netflix with a resounding cultural impact that has grown season over season,” said Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s VP of Scripted Series, per Deadline.
“We’re excited — and a bit terrified — to see how it all ends for Joe Goldberg, but one thing is for sure: You are in for an unforgettable ending.”
You Season 4 sees Joe relocate to London and become the professor, Jonathan Moore, in a renewed attempt to start over. However, Joe’s past comes back to haunt him, and he ends up where everything started in Season 1 — New York City.
