Daredevil: Born Again: Jon Bernthal Returning, Deborah Ann Woll & Elden Henson Notably Absent
It is a big day for fans of Daredevil and The Punisher!
According to Hollywood Reporter, it is rumored Daredevil: Born Again has tapped Jon Bernthal to return as Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher.
But here comes the punishment. Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page and Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson are not expected to reprise their roles for the Disney Plus reboot.

Marvel Studios did not comment on the claim, but the potential for Bernthal to return to the franchise is a huge deal.
The actor’s performance as grieving-father-turned-assassin Frank Castle in Season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil is widely praised by fans as one of the best Marvel live-action performances.
Because of this, Bernthal would headline his own successful series, The Punisher, from 2017-2019.
Born Again is set to be a momentous reunion for Netflix’s super-powered legal drama, with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk already tapped for the new series.
Additionally, the revival will loosely adapt Daredevil’s Born Again storyline from 1986, written by Frank Miller. Interestingly, The Punisher does not make an appearance in that run.

However, Woll and Henson are notably absent from the production’s call sheet after allegations spread that the actors were not asked to return for Born Again.
And then rumblings of a casting shake-up came about when Woll, appearing on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, confirmed that Disney had not approached her to work on the reboot.
“I can say this: they have not called me yet. So, as of now, I am not a part of it. I would be thrilled to get to be a part of it. They know where I am,” Woll explained.
We could see a world where Bernthal’s Punisher thrives, and Foggy and Karen’s reign as Matt’s besties dies with Disney’s revamping of The Defenders‘ properties.

Born Again will boast a super-sized 18-episode season order, which is set to begin filming this month in New York.
This episode count is a vast departure from Disney’s fleeting mini-series and leaves the door open for numerous cameos.
The Matt Corman and Chris Ord-led project is set to premiere in the spring of 2024, with Cox and D’Onofrio having wrapped filming on the Daredevil-adjacent series Echo.
But all eyes will be on Bernthal as he dons the bulletproof vest once again.
