Will Trent Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Should I Go Get My Tin Foil Hat?
An ex brings Will and Faith face-to-face with their first truly thrilling case. Will Trent Season 1 Episode 6, “Should I Go Get My Tin Foil Hat,” introduces a big conspiracy that adds some excitement for the GBI and us.
All of the cases of Season 1 thus far have been interesting. The series starts with a bang by bringing in someone from Angie and Will’s past for the first case. The majority of the next few cases include some sort of twist that ties into Faith and Will’s lives in less direct ways — such as connecting with the victims or criminals or both.
“Should I Go Get My Tin Foil Hat” takes things back to the root with an even more personal case.

This week’s case directly impacts Faith and Will in a few aspects. Faith’s ex-boyfriend Charles is a direct victim of one of the crimes and the GBI is also a victim.
Will and Faith have been in dangerous situations before but this one feels even more threatening. A powerful company with lots of money and unlimited resources is not something to take lightly.
Things could absolutely end badly for them.
Therefore, you feel the potential damage that could come on “Should I Go Get My Tin Foil Hat.” Even with all the comedy, somehow things still feel a bit eerie. Will and Faith are two of Will Trent’s main characters, which means that they are certainly safe.
However, that doesn’t mean that this episode could not have taken a dark turn. Not only in the form of death but possibly us witnessing the length and depth of corruption in the GBI.

Therefore, it’s a shock when Director Armstrong actually listens to Amanda and cuts ties with Selantus.
Prior to this decision, Armstrong feels like an ambiguous, potentially dubious figure. He respects Amanda but, taking Faith’s yet-to-be-seen mother as an example, you really never know about corruption in the GBI
Clearly, the GBI has skeletons — let’s not forget that investigation that happens before the show begins. We just don’t know all of them yet.
This Will Trent episode does an excellent job at starting to expand the team and adding potential recurring characters. Likely, Charles may make another appearance, so he could become a recurring character.
Rocky and Pete, the medical examiner, are clearly going to appear in multiple episodes. We have seen Pete several times already, and Rocky seems like a comedic relief character. Nico is also going nowhere, especially now that they live with Will.

The inclusion of new recurring characters adds excitement to any show because it takes it beyond its narrow box and world. For example, Will Trent gives a much bigger look into Faith’s life beyond her job on this episode.
The peek allows the introduction of Charles and helps expand Jeremy’s role. Of course, this makes these characters more important, and with them comes their own additional life branches. Branches that are full of their own histories, relationships, and personal struggles.
The addition of characters such as Pete and Rocky gives the TV series the potential to show us more of their background, their interactions with the team, and their world beyond the job.
Moreover, it adds the possibility of new team dynamics.
“Should I Go Get My Tin Foil Hat” may be the series’s most ambitious storyline yet because it really still could have future repercussions. It’s also an episode with more than a few surprising moments.

Hopefully, this isn’t a one-and-done storyline and things aren’t over with Selantus and their involvement with the GBI. Even if Amanda and Armstrong make the right move of cutting ties with the company, it doesn’t mean they have the power to stop it.
Stray Thoughts
- Will really is running a group home at this point. Let’s see who he adopts next.
- Faith nearly attacking Amanda and then ranting to Will about it is probably one of the show’s best scenes so far. It’s funny yet also highlights Will and Faith’s strong bond and trust.
- Angie’s plea to Jade gives this episode the emotional stakes it needs.
- Nico, Will, and Betty with a sprinkle of Angie are going to add some fun Will at-home moments.
- Surprisingly, this episode feels more gruesome than normal because of the opening murders.

Your review about a lackluster episode 5 and a thrilling episode are spot on! I told my wife after ep. 5 if it didn’t rebound I would probably quit watching it. But 6 was tense and interesting with new characters added. I will keep checking your reviews in the future. Thanks.
Glad you’re sticking with it. I think it has potential, just needs to work out some issues.
