Servant Season 4 Episode 3 Review: Séance
Leanne and Dorothy’s worlds may experience some turbulence with their new guests. It’s still unclear if these intruders are friends or foes on Servant Season 4 Episode 3, “Séance.”
Whether Bev or Bobbie is a part of the cult doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. They are in danger either way because Leanne sees them as enemies.
Pure or devious intentions are not going to stop Leanne from wanting them gone. Dorothy encourages this animosity with her openness towards Bev and Bobbie.

Each episode of Servant Season 4 brings a new shade of Leanne’s unhinged behavior. Therefore, Bev and Bobbie may become collateral damage, especially if they’re just nosey, nice nurses.
However, they must have more to them than it seems. They are quite intrusive. Clearly, they know more than they disclose.
Bobbie could really have the ability to speak to spirits, or the cult could feed her information. Whatever her deal is, she definitely knows something about Jericho’s death.
These women are hiding things.
Leanne’s obsession with the cult, rightfully, makes everything hazy for her and us. Because we see things mainly through Leanne’s lenses, we automatically suspect Bobbie and Bev as dangerous.

Too much is unknown about them. The unknown is dangerous in the world of Servant.
Whether they’re good, evil, or something in-between, Bobbie and Bev are enjoyable characters.
Their dynamic with each member of the family is amusing. They can manipulate by simply being so nice.
Bev and Bobbie almost have an opposite approach to manipulation than Leanne. They take the kill them with kindness method to get what they want.
Julian calls them the grandmas and that’s definitely their vibe. This makes the sex toy gag in the episode even funnier.

Each character, minus Leanne, alters their behavior to please them. They want to make their weird grandmothers happy.
This also makes the absence of a major mother figure in the home more real, especially when Julian and Dorothy begin to discuss the death of their mother.
Dorothy judges Sean in previous episodes for finding religion. However, she fully embraces the ridiculous nature of the séance.
This kind of shows that Dorothy may not have been mad at Sean for seeking out spiritual guidance but angry that he did it without her permission.
Dorothy rules this family with fear and control just as much as Leanne does, but she does it with fewer fear tactics and more manipulation.

Her denying Sean the power to feed her feels as harsh as just not speaking to him at all. His need to please her very much matches his fear of Leanne.
He worries about each of their actions.
Dorothy has a right to be a little (or a lot) angry at Sean. However, it seems that she’s behaving this way toward him to regain control of their relationship and home.
Dorothy trying so hard to walk again reminds us that Leanne could help her. Leanne can allow her to walk again.
Her powers are strong enough to heal Dorothy.

The ending image of Leanne lying by Dorothy emphasizes several things. It shows that Leanne still sees Dorothy as a mother figure — Dorothy mentions sleeping in her mother’s room as a scared child. It also shows that Leanne keeps Dorothy in bed.
She metaphorically (and maybe literally) shackles her to this bed and house. As long as Leanne exists, she’ll continue to latch onto Dorothy.
It’s impossible for Dorothy to rid herself of Leanne, no matter how much she wants it. Leanne won’t let her go.
Not only this, Leanne holds Dorothy’s life in her hands. Jericho is Dorothy’s life. If Leanne goes, he goes.
Dorothy still can’t reconcile with the fact that she needs Leanne to survive, to keep Jericho. If Bobbie sees Jericho’s death when she communicates with the spirits, then she may finally be the person who makes Dorothy realize what she did.

However, could Bobbie’s role be that critical to this story? The person who brings Dorothy face to face with her actions plays one of the biggest parts in Servant Season 4.
It seems like this burden would fall on Sean or Julian. They have kept her blind to the truth, but the secret has been bubbling too long to not come out soon.
When it does, Leanne may not be the only character who burns it all down.
