Love Life Canceled by HBO Max After Two Seasons
Love Life, the rom-com anthology series, has been canceled by HBO Max after two seasons.
Deadline reports that Love Life will also be pulled from the streaming service “as part of a broader financial review of the streamer’s slate that has resulted in a purge of a number of titles at the end of the calendar year.”

As reported earlier today, the HBO Max series Minx has been canceled despite its Season 2 renewal and will also be removed from the streaming service.
This specific news is significant for HBO Max because the streaming service has canceled its first original scripted series. TV Line also notes that it comes “more than a year after the release of the Season 2 finale.”
At the time of Love Life‘s Season 2 renewal in June 2020, HBO Max shared that the series had “quickly become one of the streaming platform’s top performers out of all available content.”
Per the show’s logline, Love Life “is about the journey from first love to last love, and how the people we’re with along the way make us into who we are when we finally end up with someone forever.”

Love Life‘s format meant that each ten-episode season followed a different protagonist’s quest for love. Season 1 starred Anna Kendrick as Darby Carter, and Season 2 starred William Jackson Harper as Marcus Watkins.
Per its logline, Love Life Season 2, which concluded in November 2021, followed Marcus “after his marriage unexpectedly implodes,” and he “is forced to rebuild his life brick by brick, hoping to find a love that will last, once and for all.”
Upon its Season 2 renewal, Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max, stated, “Love Life‘s first season is ultimately a tale of personal resilience, human connection, and how those we love shape our lives.”
“It’s clear to me why audiences are responding with such enormous enthusiasm, and it’s with great pleasure that my creative team and I look forward to continuing our relationship with this talented group of executive producers and Lionsgate to make television that resonates,” Aubrey added.

“We couldn’t be more excited to make another season of Love Life with the amazing people at HBO Max and Lionsgate Television, and to have the opportunity to explore a whole new protagonist. If only as a way to continue processing our own romantic damage,” co-showrunner and executive producer Sam Boyd and co-showrunner and executive producer Bridget Bedard added.
Season 1 star Anna Kendrick also released a statement about Season 2’s renewal. “It’s been a labor of love working with everyone on Love Life and all who helped shaped Darby and brought her story to life. I am excited to be able to collaborate again with the team on a new character and their journey.”
Season 2 was co-showrun by creator Sam Boyd, Bridget Bedard, and Rachelle Williams. Boyd, Bedard, and Williams serve as executive producers with Anna Kendrick, William Jackson Harper, Paul Feig, and Dan Magnante. Lionsgate Television and Feigco Entertainment produced the series.
There has yet to be a specific date announced for when HBO Max will pull both seasons of Love Life from its catalog.
