Partner Track Canceled By Netflix After One Season

News

Netflix has canceled the legal drama Partner Track after only one season. The series, based on Helen Wan’s novel of the same name, premiered on August 26, 2022.

Deadline exclusively reported the news of the series’ cancellation and included details that The Imperfects has also been canceled by the streaming service.

The Imperfects is a sci-fi drama starring Italia Ricci that debuted on Netflix in September 2022. Shelley Eriksen and Dennis Heaton created the series.

TVLine confirms the news for Partner Track, which starred Arden Cho, Bradley Gibson, Alexandra Turshen, Dominic Sherwood, Rob Heaps, Nolan Gerard Funk, Matthew Rauch, and Roby Attal.

The series told the story of Ingrid Yun, a first-generation Korean-American lawyer attempting to become a partner at an old and prestigious American law firm, Parsons-Valentine.

Ingrid’s ambition was the focal point of the series as she navigated the workplace dynamics of this law firm firmly rooted in tradition. This ambition was paired with her optimism that she could make a difference.

Partner Track also provided commentary on the intersection between sexism and racism as Ingrid navigated the often treacherous road to be taken seriously as a lawyer in her own right.

Partner Track‘s debut season ended on a cliffhanger, with the reveal that Jeff had committed a massive betrayal and had undercut Ingrid’s career.

There were also remaining questions to be answered, including the fate of the friend group that Ingrid relied on to exist in this workplace dominated by men.

The cliffhanger indicated hope for the series to continue, but Netflix’s cancellation reveals otherwise. The workplace element also provided multiple opportunities to explore these characters and their respective stories further.

Series star Arden Cho had previously appeared in Teen Wolf and Chicago Med. As previously reported, she is set to appear in the upcoming live-action remake of the animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender

Partner Track Season 1 is streaming now on Netflix.
