Avatar: The Last Airbender Gets Star-Studded Ensemble Cast at Netflix
Netflix announced the massive ensemble cast for its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The highly-anticipated show looks to adapt the popular Nickelodeon cartoon.
Per Netflix’s TUDUM, Avatar: The Last Airbender unites the “four nations”: Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads with a diverse representation of Asian and Indigenous talent.

Showrunner Albert Kim tells Netflix that the live-action adaptation creates “a chance to showcase Asian and Indigenous characters as living, breathing people. Not just in a cartoon, but in a world that truly exists, very similar to the one we live in.”
All of the 20 new cast members and their respective characters on Avatar: The Last Airbender belong to one of the four tribes.
Netflix reprises many of the characters from the original Nickelodeon series, yet the series doesn’t include any of the animated show’s creators.

Per Variety, the following have previously announced roles: Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio from Anne with an E as Katara, Ian Ousley from 13 Reasons Why as Sokka, Dallas Liu from PEN15 as Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai.
Newly announced cast members include George Takei, best known for Star Trek and Resident Alien, voicing the character of Koh, an ancient spirit. Randall Duk Kim joins the series as the voice of Wan Shi Tong — a giant owl.

The rest of the cast is as follows:
WATER TRIBE: Amber Midthunder as Princess Yue, A Martinez as Pakku, Irene Bedard as Yagoda, Joel Oulette as Hahn, Nathaniel Arcand as Chief Arnook, and Meegwun Fairbrother as Avatar Kuruk
