Ghosts Season 2 Episode 6 Review: The Baby Bjorn
In a shocking affair reminiscent of Succession‘s satirical family drama, Ghosts Season 2 Episode 6, “The Baby Bjorn,” dabbles in treacherous father-son quarls and cutthroat stock trading.
Whether it’s Thorfinn criticizing Sam for not asking how many Danes his son beheaded or Jay misunderstanding what the Farnsbys mean by toy room, this episode is delightfully spicy.
It is every awkward family reunion trope drawn out over a thousand years and performed in a screaming match across two plots of land. So it’s better.

It turns out the Farnsbys have been hiding more than an illegal pickleball court on their property.
But these shocks to the system — the swinging Farnsbys and Thorfinn’s secret son — settle into the foundation without much disruption, thanks to the comedy’s refined storytelling lens.
When your audience knows so little about your world and its rules, you can get away with introducing almost anything. So revealing Thor’s son lives two doors down from him is one of the more fascinating utilizations of this framework.
This momentous Thorfinn-centric episode is a solid bid to expand the world while leaning on this powerhouse ensemble.
And the constant, collaborative clashing of these characters is proof nothing, not even a Dane-loving Viking or neighbors with regularly scheduled orgies, can derail the charm hardwired into this entertaining premise.
Twist of Plots

Thorfinn is such a fascinating character to give these insane scenarios to because you can throw anything at the Viking, and he will attack it with his killer comedic relief — but a son? Now that’s some good, wholesome chaos.
By incorporating his son into the mix, Ghosts forces Thorfinn to play to his softer side for a few extra beats. Those beats have become real heart-warmers thanks to Devan Chandler Long’s stellar and often unpredictable delivery.
From his character’s declaration of love for Flower in Season 1 to the moment the word “father” shattered every inch of hate he had for Bjorn, Thorfinn’s quieter confessions always take us by surprise in the sweetest ways.
And like the chaotic battle axe of scene-chewing mayhem he is, Thor is right back to discussing the dismemberment of Danes without missing a beat.
Jack Pearson wishes he could be on this level of parenting.
Hetty V.S. Trevor

Unfortunately, Ghosts is cursed by a fantastic ensemble. So whenever an episode chooses to split up the gang, the story almost always suffers in some small way as the chance to intersect two equally chaotic storylines is passed up for time.
And yet there’s no denying the only storyline that could match the insanity of Thor having a son is Hetty and Trevor throwing hands.
Those two top dogs going at it over fake ghost stocks is that dream conflict scenario. Their passion for power and Hetty’s abusive tone towards Trevor make them perfect rivals.
And the irony that Hetty outsmarts Trevor by exploiting his desire to be part of a group is beautiful and oh-so brutal. Not only is her unflinching cruelty hilarious, but she somehow gives Trevor a genuine moment of growth.
Hetty may have won this round but here’s hoping Trevor takes another shot at her because the old money, new money conflict is engaging.
Endless Possibilities

Ghosts is arguably at its best when playing to the dueling ruthlessness and weaknesses of its undead inhabitants.
Or when it’s mocking its lore with a one-person debate about ghosts sitting on furniture — that’s a personal favorite!
Regardless, we are six episodes in, and this is every inch of the comedy we fell in love with during those first beats of the pilot. The ensemble is just as fresh and capable as ever. And the plot is constantly grasping at new information just out of our grasp.
Every pairing stands to break new ground, and every ghost is capable of transcending whatever crazy concept this supernatural sitcom dreams up next. It’s a purgatory with endless possibilities!
Sam may not rest easy tonight, but we sure will after this lovely episode!
