FBI Season 5 Episode 2 Review: Love Is Blind
FBI Season 5 Episode 2, “Love Is Blind,” gives us a look into how far people will go for love, and shows how important it is to still care about each other.
Nina, who has been here to fill in for Maggie post-sarin-attack, is finally introduced as more than just Scola’s ex. This is great for Nina, who deserves to be a whole character, but bad for the viewers, as it will be very hard to say goodbye to her.
Find Your Balance

Nina and Scola being together is great. It’s fun, it’s (relatively) new, and it’s hot.
However, FBI is toeing a very important line right now where Tiffany has already fallen into the background.
It’s understandable to want to put the couple in dangerous situations together by partnering them up, but Scola and Tiff spent several episodes in FBI Season 4 making sure they knew and trusted each other better.
Having Scola’s primary partner be his girlfriend — or whatever Nina and Scola want to call it — would certainly be doing a disservice to Tiff.
Respect Your Own Characters

FBI not even mentioning Maggie once this season, when she and OA are the heart of the show, is very disappointing and uncalled for.
It takes two seconds for a character to go, “how is Maggie doing?” and another three for someone else to go, “Great! We’ve been texting while she’s resting.”
The last we saw this character she was in a hospital in a coma. OA was by her side begging her to come back, blaming himself.
Acting like she suddenly doesn’t exist is weird, and extremely out of character for people like Jubal and Tiffany, who have shown genuine love and care for Maggie over the last five seasons.
Balance Is Key

Whereas FBI Season 5 Episode 1, “Hero’s Journey,” had odd pacing and an even worse intersecting storyline, “Love Is Blind” shows us what a good balance looks like between a case and the team.
This, paired with Nina taking a personal stance in the case, makes the episode not only very powerful, but probably the best episode we’ve had in a while.
While FBI is still learning its weaknesses in season five — sidelining characters instead of simply not focusing on them, disrespecting characters who are integral to the show — they definitely know their strengths in emotional cases and character chemistry.
Stray Thoughts
- OA and Tiffany interrogating that man in Madison Square Park is both very odd to see and also very hilarious. Why did they do that?
- There is just no way that 50 SWAT men were necessary for two teenagers — one who was shot, and one who was, at most, 135lbs soaking wet.
- Imagine the confidence (or in his case, sheer panic) you’d need to go to your parents and ask for a $40,000 loan.
