Top 15 Moments from ‘Superman & Lois’ Season 2
Oftentimes a series’ first season is top tier. We are introduced to the characters, their connections, and what makes them all tick. But by the time the second season rolls around, the viewers need a heftier plot.
Fortunately, this isn’t always the case. Plenty of TV series performed a near-complete turnaround when their second seasons premiered, launching them into their own niche universes and cementing themselves into our hearts forever. The most recent show to do this is Superman & Lois.
It would have been no surprise if the series just glided by on the popularity of our favorite red and blue tight-wearing superhero. Honestly, he has enough charisma to go four seasons without much more than saving a cat or two from a rabid pitbull. But instead, Superman & Lois decided to have two worlds collide — quite literally.
Introducing new characters while deepening the stories of old favorites, and putting them all in increasingly dangerous circumstances made for an ever-so entertaining 45 minutes each week. With only a few missteps along the way, Superman & Lois Season 2 secured its spot as the number one television series in the hearts of superhero fans everywhere.
To prove this point, we’ve selected 15 of our favorite moments from Superman & Lois Season 2 in chronological order. Here they are:
1. Jordan Discovers Jonathan is Taking X-Kryptonite (Season 2 Episode 6)

Jordan believed he had bonded with Jonathan over some confidential information. From the looks of it, Jonathan had started to develop his own powers. Unfortunately, Jordan is crushed when he finds out that these powers are far less than Jonathan’s natural abilities kicking in.
When Jordan confronted his brother about this inconvenient truth, the two almost come to blows. This drug had altered Jonathan’s outlook on life, marring their relationship. He lashed out with a wounded ego and a strength not his own.
Once their grandfather entered the picture, things fizzled out to a more minor spat, but who knows what would have happened in that locker room if Sam Lane didn’t have impeccable timing.
2. Sam Tries to Reunite His Daughters (Season 2 Episode 6)

General Lane is a complicated man. A complicated man often has issues raising his family even if he has the best of intentions. Things go awry, tempers flare, and children end up with anger issues well into adulthood.
This is exactly what happened to the Lane family. Lois and Lucy have become hard-headed individuals with deep-seated scars from their pasts. They are far from the perfect siblings to each other, but somewhere beyond the surface, they have a great love for each other.
Sam was determined to unbury that love, get back to their family roots, and make positive memories before it was too late.
Well, you know what they say about best-laid plans!
Scathing words and looks of disdain were shot across the Kents’ porch as the two did their best to refrain from an all-out catfight. General Lane played referee, trying his best to keep them from literally clawing each other’s eyes out.
Many faults were laid out on the table, unpackaging all the luggage the Lane’s brought to the arena. While no promises were made, an airing of grievances was the first step to reconciling a war-torn relationship.
3. Superman and Tal-Rho Escape Prison (Season 2 Episode7)

What appeared as a very real fight between Superman and his half-brother on Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 7, “Anti-Hero,” turned out to be a complicated ruse.
Angered soldiers stormed the cell fearing the brawl would turn deadly, but the joke was on them. The two Kryptonians knew exactly what they were doing the whole time and used the distraction to get the upper hand and gain their freedom.
It was a little white lie on the nearly clean slate of the Big Blue Boyscout, but with how the season ended, it is safe to say the end justified the means.
4. Bizzaro’s Sacrifice (Season 2 Episode 7)

It is an understatement to say that Bizzaro was a misunderstood character. Just because he was supposedly the exact opposite of Superman, doesn’t mean he was all-out evil. He was much more nuanced than that.
As Clark and Bizzaro came to terms with their opposite worlds and what they meant to each other, they began to discover that there was more than meets the eye just underneath the surface.
They realized that by working together they could overcome Ally’s devious plan, but their alliance would be short-lived when Litenaunt Anderson came into the equation.
Bizzaro took on the hellbent and overpowered Anderson hoping to only depressurize the scenario. Unfortunately, Anderson was playing for keeps.
5. Lana Becomes the Mayor of Smallville (Season 2 Episode 9)

Of course, political themes are nothing new to superhero shows — even Arrow’s Oliver Queen did his part to fill the role of the city council for a season or two — but Lana Lang’s position somehow seems more impactful.
Lana has no secret identity to hide. She is the exact woman that Smallville knows her to be, and she has already used that to the town’s advantage. Her down-to-earth approach makes Lana appear more agreeable and communicative than the average mayor.
If anyone has an issue, they can come straight to her for a well-thought-out conversation that will lead them to a positive conclusion. Her family roots kept her grounded even when the town began to merge with another universe. She stayed level-headed when it looked like the end of the world stood at their doorstep.
6. Jordan vs Jon-El (Season 2 Episode 11)

Being brothers, it goes without saying that Jonathan and Jordan would get into spats over petty situations. Every time they do, someone is there to break them up or ground them back in reality. After all, Jordan could never really let loose on his unpowered brother — there would be no chance of a fair fight.
That is why this scene from Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 11, “Truth and Consequences,” was so satisfying. Jordan was able to let loose on his brother’s evil doppelganger — releasing any pent-up anger in the guise of rescuing his family.
Fists of fury flew as Jon-El and Jordan took turns pummeling each other into submission, but the battle wasn’t won until Jordan decided he needed to play possum. With what looked like a defeat, Jordan distracted Jon-El, luring him into the trap and ultimately gaining the win he so desperately needed.
7. Clark Reveals Himself to Lana (Season 2 Episode 11)

We all knew this was coming. Clark and the rest of his family have been keeping thousands of secrets from The Cushings. These secrets have damaged the strength of their relationships, leaving gaping wounds in what could have been an iron-clad union between two families.
Lana had become perturbed with Clark’s repeated absence when she needed him most, and Sarah broke up with Jordan because she didn’t seem like a priority to him. The strain began to take its toll on the Kents, so Clark decided there was only one way to solve the dilemma — show Lana who he really is.
When she saw Clark levitate off the ground, all the pieces clicked in place. She understood where he disappeared to and why he had to hide it. Sadly, this reveal didn’t originally bring the automatic healing Clark hoped it would. Instead, it gave Lana reason to further disassociate from them.
8. Natalie Offers Jonathan Her Suit (Season 2 Episode 12)

Up to this very moment, nobody knew what Natalie was up to. It seemed like she was hiding something from her dad, but we were all clueless about what it was. The revelation of her own kill suit was as extreme as it was exciting, but the moment became heartwarming when she decided Jonathan needed it more than she did.
Seeing the nefarious Jon-el trying to merge with Jonathan convinced her that being her own superhero mattered far less than keeping her loved ones safe. Their dads couldn’t always be around, but this super suit could keep him safe in the meantime.
9. Sarah’s Open Mic Night at the Bar (Season 2 Episode 12)

When Sarah shared the stage with her father during Season 1, it was a sweet debut that highlighted the kind of relationship all families strive for. This time around, her vocal display brought all eyes to her.
On Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 12, “Lies That Bind,” she nervously took the stage but quickly gathered the confidence she needed to belt out the performance of a lifetime. Her heartfelt words rang far past that bar room stage, healing not only her own wounds but also the aches and pains of anyone else within earshot.
10. Jordan Learns How to Fly (Season 2 Episode 13)

During Season 1, it was hard to tell how far Jordan’s powers would develop. Would he get all the same abilities as his father, or would he only be slightly more advanced than the average human? This question was answered in spades when Clark gave him flying lessons.
Of course, Jordan was filled with doubt as he took to the sky, but his father had absolute confidence in him. After a shaky start, Jordan grasped the concept and went all in. So much to the fact that Clark had to swoop in and help him stick the landing.
This was a wonderful father/son bonding moment unlike any other we’ve seen in DC-related television.
11. A Depowered Superman (Season 2 Episode 13)

Ally Allston merged with her other self, giving her powers even greater than Superman himself. Not only was she super strong, but she could also siphon the energy out of anyone who stood in her way. Unfortunately, Clark was the exact person standing in her general direction.
This encounter left the titular hero at death’s door — fighting for his life as the world was left hanging in the balance. It took an extreme shock to the heart to bring him back to consciousness, but Clark wasn’t out of the woods yet.
The attack depleted his cells, leaving Clark nothing more than a mere mortal. No flight, no strength, just an ordinary man. With Ally still on the loose, no one knew how to further handle the situation.
In a surprise twist, a lack of powers helped Clark remember what he truly stood for. Special abilities aside, Superman still stands for hope and justice. His symbol alone helps people to move forward in faith that good will ultimately overcome evil.
12. Sara Finds Out Jordan Has Powers (Season 2 Episode 14)

It was killing Jordan to keep his secret from Sara. He wanted nothing more than to tell her everything, but everyone around him forbade it. He was told that it wasn’t fair to Sara to let her know these things that could put her in danger, but nobody thought about what it was doing to Jordan.
Finally, Jordan became convinced that maybe everyone else was right, after all, who was he to make Sara’s life harder than it already was?
In a time of great distress, the option was torn from his hands. The evil version of Lana approached him with less than desirable intent. The time to speak was over, his actions could tell the story so much easier.
With his red glowing eyes, all the lies fell away, and Sara finally saw Jordan for who he is. All the puzzle pieces clicked together in a fraction of a second. No more strange coincidences, the secret was out — Jordan has superpowers.
13. Kyle’s Breakdown (Season 2 Episode 15)

Kyle had one hell of a season. When Lana found out about his infidelity, his entire world was shattered, and even Sara turned her back on him for a little while.
With a sin like this committed to your entire family, everyone is left wondering how much you truly care for them. Even I questioned his capacity for love with his willingness to throw everything away for a couple of nights of passion.
Kyle did his best to play a single father, caring for Sara and Sophie the best he could, but it wasn’t until his emotional breakdown in the other world on that it became apparent how much he feels for his family.
Tears flooded his eyes as he searched for a way to reunite with Lana, Sara, and Sophie. He was genuinely distraught without them. Kyle regretted his lapse in judgment like never before.
14. Superman Is Thrown Into the Sun (Season 2 Episode 15)

With the world falling apart and Superman powerless, drastic measures needed to be applied. Is there any measure more drastic than being submerged into that giant ball of gas we call the sun? If there is, I don’t want to know.
To be honest, this idea was never fully thought out. After all, if something went wrong, they would wind up with a simple shell of a once powerful superhero. Lois wasn’t fond of the idea, and who could blame her?
Nonetheless, Tal-Rho does his part, flying Clark up into the atmosphere before hurtling the Man of Steel directly into the sun. The extreme environment rips at Clark’s flesh, and he screams in agony as each one of his cells absorbs the much-needed energy.
As he suffers, Clark relies on blessed memories of his family to get through the pain. They sustained him until his body was completely healed from any damage Ally dealt to him. Finally back at full strength, Superman flies into action within a moment’s notice, saving John Henry Irons, Smallville, and the entire planet.
15. Lois Tells Chrissy About Clark’s Secret (Season 2 Episode 15)

Lois and Chrissy had several intense fights over the last 15 episodes. Lois was made to look dishonest and secretive, causing great mistrust in their relationship.
She always kept Chrissy at arm’s length just so she wouldn’t figure out her husband’s secret identity. Their professional relationship suffered greatly because of it.
As the last few moments of the season wound down, Lois made the important decision to confess the truth to Chrissy. If the two were to remain journalistic partners, she needed to know all of Lois’ connections. That included who her husband really is.

20 Things We Learned About ‘Superman & Lois’ During PaleyFest

Love this show and the Kent family. Tyler and Bitsie were brilliant casting choices to be the heart of the show. Expanding the Irons family and their dynamics with the Kent’s has worked brilliantly. The Superman scenes in the finale were some of my favorite live action Superman scenes ever.
While there were some things I had issues with in season 2 that I hope they course correct a bit in S3, this show remains perfect Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane content.
Once the core focus is on Tyler and Bitsie, keeping the Kent family dynamic strong it shines. Also John Henry and Nat are perfect additions to the dynamic with a splash of Tal Rho every now and the for comedic relief!
