Preview — Station 19 Season 5 Episode 16: Death and the Maiden
Andy’s professional fate remains unknown as she awaits a trial on Station 19 Season 5 Episode 16, “Death and the Maiden.”
Andy pleads not guilty to charges of manslaughter in the first degree, but the public has a different perception of the events. The promo video sees the press writing articles about a female firefighter charged with murder.
Chief Ross is worried about optics since it’s the protocol for a firefighter charged with a felony to be suspended. So, not only does Andy have to worry about the personal effects of the traumatizing assault, there will likely be professional repercussions.
In the promo video, Andy’s reaction to the latter suggests Station 19 may dive into the public’s resistance to understanding Andy’s necessary use of self-defense.
As if that’s not enough for Andy to juggle, her mother, Elena, searches Andy out at the firehouse but meets Vic and Robert. The intense promo video ends with Andy and Elena coming face to face.
Elena’s timing is almost eery considering Andy’s discoveries about her mother during Station 19 Season 5 Episode 15, “When the Party’s Over.”
All of this press around Station 19 likely won’t be helped by Michael Dixon’s mayoral campaign. But, maybe “Death and the Maiden” will see someone from the firehouse — or anyone else who could stop Dixon from obtaining more power — announce they’ll run against Dixon.
A lot is happening in front of the camera in this week’s episode, but that doesn’t mean we should overlook a very exciting development behind the camera. Station 19‘s Jason George directed “Death and the Maiden!”
