Marvel Studios Series ‘Echo’ Coming to Disney+ in 2023
Marvel Studios has confirmed production for its latest spin-off series Echo is underway in Atlanta, with Alaqua Cox reprising her role as Maya Lopez.
Cox made her MCU debut in Hawkeye as a deaf gang leader who was determined to get revenge against the infamous Ronin, a.k.a. Clint Barton, for murdering a group of Tracksuit Mafia. She would end her antagonist stint on the series with a bang, shooting the notorious Kingpin for his role in her uncle’s death.
The series is slated to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.

According to the official synopsis for the series, Echo‘s origin story will revisit Maya, “whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.”
The ensemble cast for Echo will include Chaske Spencer (The English), Tantoo Cardinal (Stumptown), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs, American Gods), Cody Lightning (Hey, Viktor!), Graham Greene (1883), and Zahn McClarnon (Reservation Dogs).
Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie will direct episodes. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin will be executive producers on the project.
This series stands to be a monumental addition to Marvel’s roster, offering authentic representation for the indigenous, disabled, and deaf communities.
Add in the fact that this origin story is tied directly to Daredevil properties, and Echo promises to be well worth the wait.
