‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ Alumni to Join Final Season of ‘Star Trek: Picard’
Paramount+ announced that Star Trek: The Next Generation alumni LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden, and Michael Dorn will join the cast of Star Trek: Picard for its third and final season.
LeVar Burton played Geordi La Forge, while Gates McFadden played Beverly Crusher. Michael Dorn brought Worf to life.
Series star Sir Patrick Stewart has already been joined by fellow Star Trek: The Next Generation alumni in what is among the most recent addition to the on-screen Star Trek franchise.
In the two seasons of Star Trek: Picard that have aired, former Star Trek: The Next Generation stars Whoopi Goldberg and John de Lancie already reprised their roles. Additionally, Annie Wersching recurred as the infamous Borg Queen, but the actress previously appeared on Star Trek: Enterprise in a different role.

The series gained award-winning attention with one of the franchise’s returning talents — Jeri Ryan.
Ryan, who played Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager, was nominated for Saturn Award for Best Guest Starring Role on Television for the reprisal of her role on Star Trek: Picard.
Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner, who also co-starred on Star Trek: The Next Generation and reprised their respective roles on Star Trek: Picard, are also returning for the show’s third and final season.
Star Trek: Picard has made a point of bringing the past into the franchise’s present. This decision makes sense since Star Trek: Picard follows the iconic titular Starfleet Captain as he revisits the past in a conscious effort to save humanity’s future.

Terry Matalas, who serves as showrunner for Season 3, spoke about Star Trek: Picard‘s latest casting additions.
“It’s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the U.S.S. Enterprise,” Matalas stated.
“It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor. The entire Star Trek: Picard team and I can’t wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three!” Matalas continued.
