iCarly Review: i’M Wild and Crazy (Season 2 Episode 3)
iCarly Season 2 Episode 3, “i’M Wild and Crazy,” takes us down memory lane and tries on some new character arcs that ultimately do not succeed.
I love the Never Have I Ever Game in the first few minutes. At this point, it’s known that Carly is the sweet innocent one, Freddie is the charming and lovable goofball, Harper is the spontaneous try-anything once girl, and Spencer is the adult who still acts on his childish tendencies (in the best way of course).
The game is targeted toward each of these personalities perfectly, and I imagine a lot of people can relate to Carly in feeling like they’re the ‘boring friend.”

In an effort to prove she’s fun and can keep up with everyone else, Carly suggests a crazy night out Harper style. There’s a problem though; Carly is not the party girl. It doesn’t fit with her overall vibe, and it seems like a disservice to the type of person she has proven to be over the years.
One aspect that the reboot of iCarly does so well is the way it keeps the integrity and personalities of the original characters alive while portraying them in an adult lens.
It is quite funny trying to see Carly try out the experimentation of alcohol, drugs, and random kissing and fight-y activities when she and Harper are out. She even gets a tattoo, which doesn’t fit into the Carly Shay narrative.
iCarly Season 2 Episode 3 is meant to be a bit cringey on purpose. Carly is still perfectly exuding her character’s quirky and innocent energy, even when partaking in new things. It’s even better when we find out that Harper gave her vitamins instead of drugs, a non-alcoholic beverage, told the tattoo artist to make it temporary and even hired a guy that agreed to kiss and fight with Carly.
The fact that it’s fake is important because Carly is always meant to be the sweet one. As an adult in her mid to late 20s she can be a bit spicy, because that is what iCarly is allowed to be now, but the idea of her trying to change her personality and hobbies just don’t work.
While the bad girl act was a miss, Harper and Carly’s friendship is a complete win. “i’M Wild and Crazy” really allows for powerful and supportive female friendships, as well as figuring out what lifestyle works best for people with different personalities.

While Carly explores her rebel side, Freddie is working with Spencer to promote his new app Kevin after the funeral fiasco on “iGuess Everyone Just Hates Me Now.”
The nostalgia hits when Spencer reveals the office space he bought for Freddie is none other than the Groovy Smoothie. Spencer is trying to be responsible and maybe take his actions and their consequences a bit more seriously, but that seems off base as well.
Spencer is the adult figure who doesn’t know how to fully be an adult. I mean do any of us? However, it’s part of his charm and a big part of who is as a character. Just as Carly shouldn’t be the bad girl, Spencer shouldn’t be the responsible one.
Luckily, he’s able to focus on his ideas and separate himself from tanking Freddie’s business any further while also staying true to his personality.
Overall, I really love the friendship seen in Season 2 Episode 3 and while the character exploration didn’t work for long term it was funny to see Carly and Spencer go a bit out of their comfort zones.
