Chicago Fire EPs Discuss Severide’s Continued Involvement With OFI and Partnering with Wendy Seager [Video]
We’ve gotten used to seeing Kelly Severide play “Fire Cop” these days, and there’s no denying that he’s really good at it.
Of course, all this time with OFI might have you wondering if that means anything Severide moving forward, and also if it means we’ll continue seeing more of Andy Allo’s Wendy Seager.

EPs Derek Haas and Andrew Newman, along with stars Hanako Greensmith and Eamonn Walker, spoke with reporters recently during a virtual press junket about all things Chicago Fire. During that discussion, Haas and Newman discussed whether or not we’ll continue seeing Kelly Severide work with OFI and what this means for his character moving forward.
Haas immediately noted that it was Newman who could speak to this topic best, because she loved the arson stories so much.
“It makes me seem demented but it’s true. I’m obsessed with arson stories. And we love Severide in that mix. I think there’s something really fun about him working together with Seager. There’s just a great team. And we’re a big fan of Seager’s,” Newman said.
“You see the just Severide coming to life in a certain way when it comes to OFI. It’s a whole different vibe for him. So we love seeing him do that. We’d love to keep him involved with OFI as much as possible. And you know there’s also some background for him, he’s had family in OFI,” Newman continued.
“It’s in his blood!” Haas interjected.
“It’s in his blood. So we like to see that too.”
“You know, the audience, they’re cautious of Wendy Seager because she’s obviously after Severide. And then but we’re like, who wouldn’t be?” Haas added.
“And by the way, who wouldn’t be after Seager!” Newman said, adding that she loves Seager’s character and finds her intriguing. “She’s not schemey. There’s nothing schemey about Seager. It’s just all out there.”
