Suspicion Season 1 Episode 7 Suspicion Review: Questions of Trust (Season 1 Episode 7)

Suspicion Review: Questions of Trust (Season 1 Episode 7)

Reviews, Suspicion

As the penultimate episode, Suspicion Season 1 Episode 7, “Questions of Trust,” picks up the pace considerably, which is a welcomed change considering the season has been slowly chugging along.

It’s exciting to be uncovering things and making some actual progress. Admittedly, I can’t say that we’re all that closer to discovering who kidnapped Leo.

We learn a lot of tidbits of information during “Questions of Trust.” Some are interesting and some aren’t really worth caring out, to be honest.

Katherine Newman, assumedly, tells the truth about Eric Cresswell… and it is just about a report being covered up. It’s not really something shocking or worth caring about since we aren’t invested in her or her company at all. It also doesn’t point to someone who could’ve kidnapped Leo.

Sean is a bit more of an exciting mystery simply because we’ve spent a lot of time with him. We know him a lot better than we do Martin or Katherine. However, there’s still a lot about Sean that remains a mystery to us.

The one thing I feel somewhat confident in saying is he has some honor, as evident with him going against Martin when the plan changed and Martin chose to have the suspects executed. However, there are still so many questions about Sean’s employer and what he does for a living.

Speaking of Martin, there’s something about his plan that just isn’t sitting right with me. He asked Sean to bring the suspects to him, so Martin could question them about Leo. If Martin really thought that they had answers about Leo, why would he then have them killed?

This means that he actually thinks that they are just pawns and don’t know anything at all. It’s a weird change in motivation for Martin, and with Natalie shooting him, we may never know why Martin went through all the trouble to bring them to the US only to have them killed before speaking to them.

We have one episode left, and honestly, I’m not sure we are finding Leo this season. If we are, then the police certainly aren’t.

Maybe we will learn that Natalie is one of the kidnappers and knows where Leo is, but I can’t see the kidnappers being revealed and captured, Leo being rescued, and justice being served on “Unmasked.” There is just too much ground left to cover for it all to be wrapped up in one fifty-minute episode.

The sad thing is that I’m not invested enough to tune into a second season to see how it all plays out. Suspicion has kept too many secrets close to its chest for too long, and now I simply don’t care.

Maybe if we had for sure identified one of the kidnappers earlier on this season that might have helped keep interests up. But, we don’t really know much more than we started with. What we do know is a bit confusing or underwhelming.

Stray Thoughts
  • Kudos to Eddie for the quick thinking when Aadesh discovered him.
  • Also, Aadesh is a ride or die friend, and I respect that.
  • Natalie shooting Martin is unexpected and makes her look very guilty.
  • It looks like our suspects might figure out that there’s an undercover cop among them during the finale.
