What to Watch on TV: Peacemaker, Euphoria, Dexter: New Blood
Welcome to a new week and another round of What to Watch on TV for the week of January 9th! We’ll be sharing our picks for what to watch this week, from marathons to big guest spots, and significant episodes of TV to look forward to.
This week’s picks include the premiere of Peacemaker, the return of Euphoria, the series finale of Dexter: New Blood, and more.

Euphoria – Sunday, January 9

HBO’s critically acclaimed drama returns for a second season. Season 2 picks up after both the events of the Season 1 finale and the two specials that aired in December 2020 and January 2021. Euphoria Season 2 premieres Sunday, January 9 at 9/8c on HBO.
Episode description: Amidst the intertwining lives in the town of East Highland, Seventeen-year-old Rue must find hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss, and addiction.
Pivoting – Sunday, January 9

Friends Amy, Jodie, and Sarah re-evaluate their life choices in the wake of their friend’s death on Fox’s new comedy. Pivoting’s premiere airs Sunday, January 9 at 8:30/7:30c before moving to its regular time slot on Thursday, January 13 at 9:30/8:30c on Fox.
Series description: Starring Eliza Coupe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Maggie Q, and set in a small, middle-class town in Long Island, NY, single-camera comedy PIVOTING follows three women — and close-knit childhood friends — as they cope with the death of the fourth member of their group. When faced with the reality that life is short, these women pivot, and alter their current paths, by way of a series of impulsive, ill-advised and self-indulgent decisions. These pivots will strengthen their bond and prove it’s never too late to screw up your life in the pursuit of happiness.
The Righteous Gemstones -Sunday, January 9

It’s time to find some religion again as the Gemstones family return for a second season. The Righteous Gemstones returns Sunday, January 9 at 10/9c on HBO.
Episode description: As Jesse (Danny McBride) eyes a business opportunity with an Evangelical couple (Eric Andre and Jessica Lowe) on the rise, the media cracks down on a fellow preacher. Meanwhile, Eli (John Goodman) reconnects with a figure (Eric Roberts) from his mysterious past.
Dexter: New Blood – Sunday, January 9

Dexter: New Blood wraps up its season. Dexter and Harrison look to start a normal life, but things won’t be that easy for father and son. Dexter: New Blood airs Sunday, January 9 at 9/8c on Showtime.
Episode description: Dexter and Harrison try to live a normal life in a place that they have discovered is not as normal as they thought it was. Will they live happily ever after, despite all the threats coming their way?
Kings of Napa – Tuesday, January 11
This new drama takes viewers to the picturesque Vineyards of Napa. It follows the King family as they scramble to deal with the sudden exit of the family patriarch as the head of their successful wine business. Kings of Napa premieres Tuesday, January 11 at 8/7c on OWN.
Series description: “The Kings of Napa” is focused on a gorgeous and picturesque Napa Valley, California vineyard owned by the Kings, an aspirational African American family whose wealth and status lands them on the pages of design magazines and society pages. The wine business has brought the family success and acclaim, but following the patriarch’s sudden exit from the company, his three children must grapple for the reigns to the kingdom — to their own power, wealth, and legacy.
Naomi – Tuesday, January 11

The CW’s newest hero makes her debut on Ava Duvernay’s Naomi. Based on the DC comics, ordinary teen Naomi investigates strange happenings in her small town that reveal much more than she bargained for. Naomi premieres Tuesday, January 11 at 9/8c on The CW.
Episode description: Naomi’s closest friends join her to help uncover who or what’s behind the unexpected event that has their small military town buzzing and left her with strange new fainting spells.
Legends of Tomorrow – Wednesday, January 12

Viewers will be seeing double during Legends of Tomorrow Season 7’s second half. The team will have to take on their ruthless doppelgängers — unleashed by evil Gideon at the end of Legends of Tomorrow Season 7 Episode 7, “A Woman’s Place is in the War Effort!” — when the series returns from its brief winter hiatus. Legends of Tomorrow returns Wednesday, January 12 at 8/7 on The CW.
Episode description: Sara starts to realize her team is making questionable choices when it comes to the timeline; Sara discovers some harsh truths.
Peacemaker – Thursday, January 13

DC’s The Suicide Squad spinoff premieres with the titular character looking to build a team of like-minded individuals that can help him achieve his sometimes violent brand of peace. Peacemaker’s first three episodes premiere Wednesday, January 13 on HBOMax.
Series description: PEACEMAKER will explore the origins of the character that John Cena first portrayed in James Gunn’s 2021 film, “The Suicide Squad” – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.
The House – Friday, January 14

This three-episode, adult animated anthology tells the stories of different individuals that have inhabited the House in the past, present, and future. The House premieres Friday, January 14, on Netflix.
Series description: The House is an eccentric dark comedy about a house and the three surreal tales of the individuals who made it their home. An anthology directed by the leading voices in independent stop motion animation: Emma de Swaef and Marc Roels, Niki Lindroth von Bahr and Paloma Baeza and produced by Nexus Studios.
