Preview — Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 1: What Lies Beneath
Smallville and its residents deal with the fallout of Superman and Tal Rho’s confrontation on Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 1, “What Lies Beneath.”
The weight of that fight lands heavier on the shoulders of a few key characters. For example, Clark faces some (more) growing pains as Superman — continuing to gain back people’s trust and respect.
That stress isn’t helped by a strain in his relationship with Lois. Though, some tension is understandable since Lois is likely still reeling from the arrival of John Henry Irons’ daughter Natalie.
John Henry Irons and Natalie’s further involvement in this show is one of this episode’s greatest pulls. Wolé Parks and Tayler Buck were incredible additions to the series last season.
On a more optimistic note, it appears as though Superman & Lois is diving into Lois’ profession more — at least on “What Lies Beneath.” Plenty of the photos shows Chrissy and Lois working together to expand The Smallville Gazette.

Episode description: Season two opens with the dust still settling in Smallville following the shocking outcome of the confrontation between Tal-Rho and Superman. Lois and Clark struggle as a couple while Chrissy adjusts to running The Smallville Gazette with Lois.
Jonathan faces new challenges on the football field, and secrets threaten to destroy Jordan and Sarah’s growing relationship. Meanwhile, Kyle grows concerned over Lana’s involvement with a new mayoral candidate. Lastly, John Henry Irons and his daughter Natalie attempt to make this new Earth their home.
The episode was directed by Gregory Smith and written by Brent Fletcher & Todd Helbing.
