This is it. We’ve been saying “Guardian is coming” since May of this year. Now, she’s finally here. Kelly Olsen suits up as Guardian and Diggle pays National City a visit on SupergirlSeason 6 Episode 12, “Blind Spots.”
It’s still unknown why Dig will end up in National City. If we consider any of his other visits to Arrowverse shows this season, he’ll be the one bringing Kelly her Guardian suit.
This is one of the most highly anticipated Supergirlepisodes ever. It’s already a rare feat for Azie Tesfai to co-write the episode with J. Holtham.
TV shows are no strangers to having their actors direct episodes (See: David Ramsey), but we rarely if ever see actors writing episodes. No one knows Kelly Olsen better than Tesfai who has been walking in her shoes for three years now.
David Ramsey is already a force on screen as John Diggle, but he will bring that magic behind the camera as he directs “Blind Spots.” That means that this game-changing episode is entirely helmed by people of color.
“Blind Spots” pulls the focus back to the Ormfell building that imploded at the end of Supergirl Season 6 Episode 10, “Still I Rise.” This accident (to the eyes of National City residents) is one that harms marginalized communities in a way that compounds the systemic abuse they already face.
Kelly Olsen sees their pain and steps into her power and into her role as Guardian to help them as best she can.
Kara’s white privilege is a key proponent in her blind spots, but that’s not where it ends. Supergirl’s radar is finely tuned to Nyxly’s world(s)-ending problems so that she doesn’t see the scope of what Kelly sees.
This event shifts the story to the importance of street-level heroes like Guardian and Spartan.
Supergirlalways stresses the importance of stronger together, but this time around, Kelly Olsen as Guardian leads the fight to restore justice to the fallen community.

Episode description: Kelly is horrified when the Ormfell building implodes, injuring many in the community, including Joey. Knowing that she can make a difference, Kelly embraces her power and fully steps into her role as Guardian. Joined by Supergirl, Alex, Diggle and team, Guardian leads the way to restoring justice to the fallen community. The episode was directed by David Ramsey and written by J. Holtham & Azie Tesfai.
