Jodie Whittaker Leaving ‘Doctor Who’ at the end of 2022
- BBC has given Whovians plenty of time to prepare for goodbye, as it has announced Jodie Whittaker will exit Doctor Who at the end of 2022.
- Following Season 13 and three specials airing in 2022, Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor will regenerate into Fourteen.
- “In 2017 I opened my glorious gift box of size 13 shoes. I could not have guessed the brilliant adventures, worlds and wonders I was to see in them,” Whittaker said.
- Doctor Who Season 13 is set to premiere in the fall, with the annual New Year’s Day special coming next. A second special will air in spring 2022, then Whittaker will make her final appearance in a feature-length fall 2022 special.
- “My heart is so full of love for this show, for the team who make it, for the fans who watch it and for what it has brought to my life. And I cannot thank Chris enough for entrusting me with his incredible stories,” she continued. “We knew that we wanted to ride this wave side by side and pass on the baton together. So here we are, weeks away from wrapping on the best job I have ever had. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express what this role has given me. I will carry the Doctor and the lessons I’ve learnt forever.”
- Showrunner Chris Chibnall will also exit alongside Whittaker with the fall 2022 special.
- With fans shocked and saddened by the announcement, as usual The Doctor knows just what to say.
- “I know change can be scary and none of us know what’s out there. That’s why we keep looking. Travel Hopefully. The Universe will surprise you. Constantly,” Whittaker said.

‘Hawkeye’ Sets November Premiere at Disney+
- As the post-credits scene of Black Widow showed, Clint Barton/Hawkeye has a lot on his plate. We’ll find out how he handles it all when Hawkeye premieres Wednesday, Nov. 24 on Disney+.
- In an EW preview of the new series, star Jeremy Renner explained the relationship between Clint and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop.
- “[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she’s a big Hawkeye fan,” Renner said. “She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she’s such a fangirl of Hawkeye. The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life.”
- Viewers will recall that Clint started Avengers: Endgame in a dark place, as Thanos’ snap claimed his entire family. Barton became Ronin, hunting down and killing dangerous gangsters.
- He and Natasha then fought over who would sacrifice themselves for the soul stone, with Nat sadly winning.
- Though we don’t know the plot of Hawkeye, we imagine guilt will play a role.
- Black Widow Spoiler Alert! Seriously. If you haven’t seen Black Widow stop reading!
- On top of his redemption for all those he killed in Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow ended with a post-credits scene where Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) gives Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) a picture of “the man who killed her sister,” and it’s Clint.
- That leaves Hawkeye a lot of questions to answer when it premieres Wednesday, Nov. 24 on Disney+.
‘Snowpiercer’ Gets Early Season 4 Renewal

- When we left Snowpiercer Season 2, the combined trains were separated by an explosion, with the 10-car train going back for Melanie. It appears that she didn’t survive her time at the research station, but Jennifer Connelly is set for Season 3, so who knows?
- Season 3 will feature Archie Panjabi as Asha, while Mike O’Malley and Chelsea Harris are now series regulars.
- Snowpiercer Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on the TNT app.

Delroy Lindo Joins ‘Anansi Boys’ as Mr. Nancy
- The captivating character Mr. Nancy is going from one legend to another, with Delroy Lindo set to portray the god in Amazon’s Anansi Boys, per Variety.
- Anansi Boys, based on the Neil Gaiman novel, is a six-episode series featuring Charlie Nancy, “a young man who is used to being embarrassed by his estranged father, Mr. Nancy. But when his father dies, Charlie discovers that his father was Anansi: trickster god of stories. And he learns that he has a brother. Now his brother, Spider, is entering Charlie’s life, determined to make it more interesting but making it a lot more dangerous.”
- “Delroy Lindo is a giant of the stage and the screen, and we are so lucky to have him,” Gaiman said. “I cannot wait to see his gravitas and charm being deployed for the benefit of Anansi Boys, as he plays an unreliable father with hidden depths.
- Orlando Jones memorably portrayed Mr. Nancy during the first two seasons of American Gods.
- Lindo can next be seen in star-studded western The Harder They Fall, which premieres on Netflix this fall.

Nick Creegan Joins ‘Batwoman’ as Series Regular
- Fresh off his emotional performance in Law & Order: Organized Crime, Nick Creegan is joining another mysterious family on Batwoman Season 3.
- Deadline reports, Creegan will play the series regular role of Marquis Jet. “A sexy playboy who grew up in a lavish lifestyle, Marquis is too charming for his own good and wields his power with a ne’er do well attitude. He views life as one big joke and that sense of recklessness has a tendency to clash horribly with his no-nonsense mother Jada Jet. When he meets Ryan, he sees in her a like-minded young go-getter who like him is just waiting for the right opportunity to make his mark on Gotham.”
- It was recently announced that TV favorite Robin Givens will be playing Jada Jet, a woman who may be Ryan’s presumed dead biological mother.
- Batwoman is also adding the familiar character Renee Montoya, who will once again be portrayed by Victoria Cartagena. She played Montoya on Fox’s Gotham.
- Givens and Cartagena are also slated to be series regulars.
- Batwoman Season 3 is set to premiere Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 9/8c.
