When Does 9-1-1 Return for Season 9?
9-1-1 fans won’t have to wait too much longer for the members of the 118 to return to their screens. 9-1-1 Season 9 premieres on Thursday, October 9th at 8/7c.
It will be followed by the series premiere of 9-1-1: Nashville and the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy.
9-1-1 Season 8 saw the shocking death of Captain Bobby Nash, and the 118 will continue to deal with that loss when the series returns for Season 9. Bobby certainly isn’t being forgotten, and to honor him, the station will become known as the “Captain Robert W. Nash Memorial Station 118.”

KENNETH CHOI, ANIRUDH PISHARODY, RYAN GUZMAN, OLIVER STARK
All other key characters will be back for Season 9, including Angela Bassett, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Oliver Stark, Kenneth Choi, Aisha Hinds, Ryan Guzman, and Gavin McHugh. Corinne Massiah and Elijah M. Cooper have also been promoted to series regulars.
9-1-1 Season 9 will, as expected, feature plenty of incredible rescues and shocking emergencies. One such rescue will feature guest star Mark Consuelos, whose character is swallowed by a whale. (Believe it or not, this is yet another rescue inspired by real events!)
There’s also the question of who will fill Bobby Nash’s shoes as captain of the 118.

At the end of 9-1-1 Season 8, it seemed that person might be Chimney, and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Tim Minear confirmed that Chimney does take on that role. “I don’t think it’s going to be a surprise to anybody, given the finale from last season, that Chimney is the acting captain when we come in to this season,” Minear said.
The 9-1-1 Season 9 will consist of 18 episodes. 9-1-1 will be followed each Thursday by the new spinoff series, 9-1-1: Nashville.
