Overcompensating Renewed for Season 2 at Prime Video
The next semester at Yates University awaits Benny and his friends!
Prime Video has renewed Overcompensating, the college-set ensemble comedy from writer and executive producer Benito Skinner, for a second season.
“I have been so overwhelmed by the insane response to the show, and feel so damn lucky to go back to Yates University with Amazon MGM Studios, A24, Strong Baby, and this legendary cast for Season 2!! PLAY SUPER BASS :),” Skinner said in a statement, per Variety.

Overcompensating‘s eight-episode debut season premiered on the streamer in May. It made Tell-Tale TV’s list of Best TV Shows of 2025 So Far.
The series follows Skinner as Benny, “a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen, a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs,” per its description.
“With guidance from Benny’s older sister and her campus-legend boyfriend, Benny and Carmen juggle horrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs. Deeply funny and personal, the show explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.”
Alongside Skinner, Overcompensating stars Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Rish Shah. Mary Beth Barone celebrated the show’s renewal in an Instagram post, writing, in part, “THAT WAS AMAZON… I GOT A JOB NEXT SEMESTER !!!”

Holmes, Corteon Moore, Owen Thiele, Nell Verlaque, and Tomaso Sanelli recur on the show.
Overcompensating‘s guest stars include Andrea Martin, Connie Britton, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaia Gerber, Julia Shiplett, Tommy Do, Alexandra Beaton, Claire Qute, Elias Azimi, Maddie Phillips, and Charli XCX.
The show’s additional guest stars include Lukas Gage, Megan Fox, Bowen Yang, Matt Rogers, James Van Der Beek, Didi Conn, Rachel Matthews, Danielle Perez, Boman Martinez Reid, and Yasmine Sahid.
“We look forward to our global Prime Video customers enjoying more of Benito’s captivating and bold storytelling in the second season of Overcompensating,” Vernon Sanders, global head of television at Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement, per Deadline.

“Working alongside the talented teams from A24 and Strong Baby has been a joy for everyone involved, and we are excited to see what hilarious moments Benito has planned for Season Two,” Sanders continued.
Executive producer Scott King serves as Overcompensating‘s showrunner.
The show’s executive producers also include Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, Ali Goodwin for Strong Baby. Charli XCX serves as executive producer and executive music producer.
A24 and Amazon MGM Studios produce Overcompensating.
