The Mysterious Benedict Society Review: The Dance of the Celestial Orb (Season 1 Episode 7)
First and foremost it’s so good to know Milligan is okay. The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 1 Episode 7, “The Dance of the Celestial Orb,” wastes no time in reassuring viewers that our lovable sidekick is indeed still kicking.
Milligan is exactly the familiar face Kate needed to see as she plummeted to her possible death off the cliff. I feel that if it were anyone else in the team she wouldn’t have listened to what they had to say as much.
She needed to be told that her lone wolf attitude isn’t helpful for her or the team. It’s something that she is very stubborn about. However, she is reaching the point in her life where she needs to learn to trust.

In fact, this penultimate episode of The Mysterious Benedict Society is excellent at shaping how each character is going to enter the final battle arena. From Curtain all the way down to characters as easily dismissed as Martina — everyone has a role to play in the big showdown.
One of the best moments of the whole episode comes from our fearless leader, Reynie Muldoon. He has a moment to really hone in on Sticky and drive forth his purpose, which Reynie does with grace and compassion for his companion.
Up to this point, we really haven’t seen Reynie step up and demand attention from any of the group. However, he knows that Sticky needs to be nudged in the right direction.
To see him do so and then apologize reminds us why we are rooting for him in the first place. Despite his negative attributes, Reynie is ultimately a person who is pure of heart and out to discover the best in everyone.
Reynie: I’m your friend. Your best friend. So I’m supposed to be the one to remind you who you are. And that’s thoughtful, selfless, and caring. That’s the Sticky I know.
One of the greatest surprises to come out of this episode is definitely the evolution of S.Q. This boy has gone from wallflower to will power and we couldn’t be more excited.
While Reynie has been manipulating S.Q. in order to gain more information, the actions have been beneficial for S.Q. overall. I think that Reynie needed to see S.Q. believe in him to keep his momentum going for the mission.
He is currently acting nothing like who he wants to be as a person and so he needs those little moments of encouragement to remain the leader he was born to be. S.Q.’s little moments of defiance provide that, and give S.Q. a feeling of autonomy over his own journey.

I can easily foresee all of these children — the Mysterious Benedict Society four and S.Q. — coming together to ultimately defeat The Emergency. The children continue to be this show’s strongest feature and the voices of reason when all else fails.
Knowing that Martina now knows how far Kate went to betray her she is going to be their biggest adversary moving forward. While Jillson and Jackson are distracted by the newly discovered knowledge of Benedict and his crew on the shore.
Might I just say, Benedict, Number 2, and Rhonda really know how to get down to it and finish a large project in a highly proficient manner. Their blimp contraption used to escape over the water to the island is genius!

It’s always fun to watch as multiple stories converge into one at the climax of a story. “The Dance of the Celestial Orb” is one such example. Seeing Benedict’s journey converge with that of his children spies and that of Curtain’s plan is fun and stimulating.
The next episode is clearly going to cover the day of The Emergency so seeing Curtain lose his control is important for the forward movement of the story. The children and Benedict wouldn’t have as much hope of succeeding against him if he was at his tip-top best.
Once his brother is physically on the island, there is no way Curtain will be able to focus his energy where it needs to be. And maybe that has been Benedict’s plan all along. But wouldn’t it be fun if this is an unforeseen side effect to their mission?
