Miracle Workers: Oregon Trail Review: Fording the River (Season 3 Episode 2)
As a follow-up to a very strong premiere, Miracle Workers: Oregon Trail Season 3 Episode 2, “Fording the River” proves to be their funniest episode to date. This episode is what tv dreams are made of.
Between Zeke and Benny going head to head over the morality of life and the Aberdeen’s meeting some new friends, a laugh is never far from our lips. It starts off strong with Zeke proclaiming Benny killed America by shooting a bald eagle and doesn’t slow down until the last few moments where Zeke lets go of some of his righteous fortitudes.
It’s a very strong performance from both Radcliffe and Buscemi, making us all realize that they are the true gems of this series. Their comedic timing is on point and adds depth to what are already meant to be funny situations.

One of the funniest moments of “Fording the River” is when Benny heads up a game show called “Who Will Die” where he pits the weakest in their party against each other. All in the name of releasing some of the dead weight.
This is the start of a turning point for Benny as a character. He doesn’t understand being selfless in the face of others, but Zeke’s actions open his eyes a bit to that concept.
It’s wonderful to watch him go from not trusting Zeke’s motives on the matter to straight-up understanding what being selfless means — to an extent. Let’s be real, Benny isn’t a character who is going to change his stripes overnight, but he’s on the right track.
Watching Todd during this episode of Miracle Workers: Oregon Trail I am reminded of David Rose on Schitt’s Creek Season 1. Both of these characters come from money and are thrust into entirely new situations that are miles outside of their comfort zone.
Todd: I’m wet! My beautiful dry skin is ruined!
Todd, as always provides us with some well-placed laughs as he discovers the horror of fording the river — how dare he get wet. Choosing to go seek out the ferry instead is another moment of current culture clashing with 1844 culture, a skill that Miracle Workers: Oregon Trail is extremely adept at.
Prudence is taken to the ferry against her true desires and there she meets Kya and Purple who invite the trail couple into their decked-out carriage. Purple is the epitome of current Instagram culture with her constant hashtags and shallow “adventures.”
Meeting these free-thinker, pot-smoking characters allows Prudence’s true nature to expertly shine through. She is so different from Purple that we find ourselves rooting for Pru that much more.
If 1844 could have what is known as a feminist, Pru would be that whole-heartedly. She gives up luxury in order to cross the river with her friends because it’s a real adventure.

Once again, Pru and Zeke are thrown together in a situation that borders on flirtation and romantic interest. I’m truly curious how this will play out because Pru is married, even if she’s not happy, and Zeke is a man of God.
Though, Benny is changing Zeke’s nature a little bit with each passing adventure. So, at this point anything is possible. I just hope they don’t go a cheating route because I despise cheating storylines with a fiery passion.
As they trudge ever forward on their quest for Oregon, the townspeople prove that Miracle Workers is like a fine wine, it gets better with age.
