Call Me Kat Review: Moving In (Season 1 Episode 11)
Randi has to deal with difficult questions about her relationship on Call Me Kat Season 1 Episode 11, “Moving In.”
This episode is a great example of how simple, character-oriented storytelling can be funnier than the wildest pratfall. The former is going to keep the audience’s attention much longer than the latter.
We get to focus on Randi and Kat’s friendship, enjoy plenty of laughs, and most importantly, there is no wasted space.

We finally get closure on Randi and Daniel’s relationship. We knew all along he wasn’t right for our fiercely independent, self-assured Randi, and he proved us right.
Randi finds out Daniel had a quickie marriage he didn’t tell her about. When she confronts him, he doesn’t validate her concerns, letting her quickly realize they’re not emotionally compatible.
Side note: Don’t ever tell your significant other that they’re overreacting and should calm down. It’s a recipe for a breakup every single time.

We love that this put a highlight on how important Randi and Kat’s friendship is to the show. We’ve gotten glimpses of their dynamic, but this episode showcases how great they are as true best friends.
Now that Randi is staying with Kat, we’re looking forward to them as wacky roommates. Add Phil into the mix and it’s always hilarious.
We’ve seen Kat struggle in the modern dating world, and nothing is more complicated than sexy selfies. This is especially true for someone like Kat, who is an embarrassment magnet.

To the surprise of no one, her risqué photo for Oscar goes completely wrong when she accidentally sends it to Max while he’s tutoring Carter’s son.
By Kat’s usual crazy standards, things aren’t that bad. Max is understanding, and obviously jealous of Oscar.
In the past, we haven’t been 100 percent on board with the Kat and Max pairing, but somehow having Max pine for Kat makes it more interesting.

Back on Call Me Kat Season 1 Episode 5, “Cake,” Max was very certain that he only wanted Kat as a friend. Of course, once the thought was put in his head, it’s all he’s been able to think about.
I have to admit the chemistry between the characters has improved in recent episodes, but there’s still something holding us back from completely going all in.
I can’t put a finger on it, but our TV watching experience is keeping us from getting invested.
We don’t claim to be any more interested in Kat and Oscar, but at least she seems to be on equal footing with him. She also looks happy to have someone who only wants her, and isn’t still thinking about their French girlfriend.

We’re in this place where if the show gets picked up for another season, we can’t spend all our time trapped in the will they/won’t they land, especially when it has such a strong cast of characters.
This has been an up-and-down season quality-wise, but it’s exciting to see Call Me Kat return to its fresh, funny form. We once again can’t wait to see what shenanigan-filled journey it takes us on.
