The Boys Season 2 Episode 3 Top 10 Moments from ‘The Boys’ Season 2

Top 10 Moments from ‘The Boys’ Season 2

Lists, The Boys

The Boys Season 2 delivers an impeccable season that, if I do say so myself, outdoes the first season as we see the rise and fall of new foes, old heroes, and supe terrorists. Season 2 also features relationships rekindled and way too many deaths.

The central theme that correlates throughout Season 2 is politics and superheroes.

Still, more specifically, it’s all about an undercover Nazi working her way through the political climate of superheroes by putting on a facade to get what she wants, which is a fitting commentary on the current state of the world we live in.

The Boys Season 2 is one of the best seasons of television that I’ve seen in a moment, so narrowing down and limiting my most memorable scenes is no easy task.

Here are my picks for the top 10 moments from Season 2 in chronological order:

1. Kimiko’s Reunion (Season 2 Episode 2)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 2

This moment is so heart-warming because Kimiko has nobody, quite literally.

She was kidnapped and forcibly transformed into a killing machine against her own will, drastically changing the way the thinks and approaches new things, which makes her reuniting with her brother all that more special.

I know that she has Frenchie, and without him, she would be nowhere near where she is today when it comes to adapting to society, but she still doesn’t have that connection with him at this point in the season. He’s a nice man who has shown that he won’t harm her, but it’s not as if they can speak with one another and get closer emotionally at this point.

It’s a good thing that Kimiko recognizes that where she’s at is not a bad place to be and she shouldn’t mess up a good thing, but part of me wishes she had escaped with her brother only to try and change his perspective on things.

With Butcher in the mix, there was never any chance of him staying around for long.

2. Compound V Leak (Season 2 Episode 3)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 3

Yes! Yes! Yes! The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived thanks to Starlight and her ability to stay calm in dire situations.

A-Train almost ruins the entire thing by being the creep that he is. It’s disgusting how he walks up and puts his hands on Starlight, rubbing her legs and boots like he has any right to be near her or touch her.

The exposure of Compound V brings upon a battle between the government, heroes, and the people, but most importantly, it’s the beginning of the end when it comes to unconditional love for supes from the public.

3. Stormfront’s Real Name (Season 2 Episode 4)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 4

On The Boys Season 2 Episode 3, “Over the Hill With the Swords of a Thousand Men,” Stormfront’s racist behavior is given the spotlight as she kills an entire black family without remorse or hesitation when going after Kimiko’s brother.

Still, The Boys Season 2 Episode 4, “Nothing Like It in the World,” showcases just how horrific she is by exposing her true identity: Liberty.

Liberty is a 100 something-year-old racist who murdered a black man, Myron Hunter, in cold blood in the middle of the night because his car “fit the description.” His sister, Valerie, was a witness to the murder as she sat in the backseat but was only paid two thousand in hush money to keep her quiet after all of these years.

Stormfront is a Nazi terrorist in the guise of an all American Hero for everyone to get what she wants, which is an army of loyal supporters who will do whatever she wants.

4. Maeve Thrown Under the Bus (Season 2 Episode 4)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 4

Homelander has proved himself to be a disgusting person in general, but it seems like he lives to continuously tear himself down peg after peg as he outs Maeve on live television, so he can distract the viewers from the critical questions.

I’ve wished for Homelander to get killed off or get what’s coming to him for awhile now, but this scene alone makes me wish he had somehow been offed this season. He truly cares for nobody other than himself, but he wants everyone to love him and praise his name.

Homelander is one of the best villains on television right now because of how genuinely sadistic he is. It’s only going to get worse, but I’m intrigued to see what new horrifying things he’ll do in Season 3.

5. The Big Reveal to Homelander (Season 2 Episode 6)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 6

Stormfront rips the band-aid off and finally tells Homelander about her true identity as a racist, Nazi, fascist born in Berlin, Germany, and married Fredrick Vought at a young age. She was also given the first dose of Compound V, making her the first superhero ever created.

She dropped the persona of Liberty for 30 years, revamped her whole image, and returned as Stormfront because it’s been a slow-burning plan to take over America.

Her ideals and tactics make her worse than Homelander, which is a challenging feat to conquer, and even he hesitates for a moment as she goes on her white power speech to him. However, because he’s such a pile of trash himself, her status as a Nazi doesn’t deter him but excites him.

6. Making a Murderer (Season 2 Episode 6)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 6

This particular scene where Starlight helps steal a car to save Hughie’s life is beyond heartbreaking.

Starlight prides herself on being a good superhero and not hurting people. The biggest thing between her and Butcher is how she believes in the complete opposite of him, but one trip together, and he’s already made her a murderer.

Starlight didn’t mean to kill the man when she blasted him; she was only trying to save Hughie, but now she has to live with that for the rest of her life. There are worse things to have to deal with, but that’s not something that she ever wanted to happen, and it sucks.

7. Kimiko Teaches Frenchie (Season 2 Episode 7)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 7

Kimiko teaching Frenchie how to sign is one of the best scenes in the entire series because their relationship has come so far to get to this point.

All Frenchie wants is to help Kimiko and to be able to communicate with her because she has to deal with everything by herself, so I’m beyond ecstatic that she’s teaching him her language she made with her brother.

Frenchie cares for her, and you can see that she recognizes it as she watches his face light up with glee as he learns.

It’s no fun having one-way conversations, but what’s more critical is Kimiko needs to be able to release and say whatever she wants and be understood at the same time. Now she’ll have the option to do so.

For a moment, I didn’t think we’d ever get to see this moment after Frenchie stupidly decides to kiss her after her brother died. He wasn’t thinking correctly when he did it, but it was a dumb move that could’ve easily gotten him killed.

Frenchie and Kimiko being able to talk fluently with one another will be a fun thing to play with during Season 3.

8. Girls Get it Done (Season 2 Episode 8)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 8

Words can’t accurately describe how satisfying it is to watch Maeve, Starlight, and Kimiko gang up and tear Stormfront apart, even though she gets away in the end. There’s just the tiny issue of logistics in the fight between Starlight and Stormfront.

If Starlight draws her powers from energy, why can she not piggyback off Stormfront’s energy to fight her? Why is Starlight not allowed to use her powers for more than 2 seconds?

Starlight is powerful as hell, so why is she never using her powers when she’s in trouble? What exactly is the point of having a battle between superheroes if only one of them is prominently using their powers?

Yes, Stormfront is the very first superhero, and she is powerful, but if Starlight had been allowed to use her abilities to the full extent as well, they wouldn’t have had to have Maeve swoop in and save the day.

Maeve could’ve easily pulled up on Kimiko and Starlight whooping Stormfront’s butt and just joined the action instead of having to save the day and then still act like she doesn’t care.

This scene could’ve easily been Stormfront’s demise, instead of having half her body burned off by a child who was trying to save his mother.

9. The Death of Becca (Season 2 Episode 8)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 8

Becca’s death is one that I saw coming, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less.

The game is forever changed from this moment because Butcher has officially lost the one person he truly loves, and it was at the hands of her own son. It brings me joy to know that Becca got to stab Stormfront in the eye, at least, before dying.

Butcher already dislikes Ryan and doesn’t see him as someone worth doing anything over, so, unfortunately, I’m happy that Homelander shows up before Butcher can try to bash Ryan’s skull in with a crowbar.

However, it would’ve been great if Ryan had gotten mad again and tried to zap Homelander. It would’ve been a fun scene to watch.

In the end, Butcher makes the correct decision by handing Ryan over to Mallory, so they can protect him from Vought and make sure he grows up nothing like Homelander. The kid would’ve never made it if Butcher had kept him.

10. Supe Terrorist in Hiding? (Season 2 Episode 8)

The Boys Season 2 Episode 8

The exploding heads mystery has come to an end, and it’s Congresswoman Neuman!

I didn’t see it coming; however, now that I think about it, it does make sense. She’s a supe terrorist who disguises as a human who hates supes and wants them on constant monitoring. She steps closer to having control over all supes in America, which means that she can do as she pleases with no one in her way to stop her.

I’m interested to see what will unfold with her character during Season 3.

Overall, Season 2 of The Boys was absolutely marvelous from the cinematography, the writing, and the cast. The Boys is everything I’ve ever wanted out of a superhero show.
