Lucifer Season 5 Episode 3 Top 20 Moments From Lucifer Season 5 Part 1

Top 20 Moments From Lucifer Season 5 Part 1

Lists, Lucifer

The circumstances surrounding the continued presence of Lucifer on our screens have been most peculiar. It’s been stuck in what feels like an endless cycle of cancellations and renewals, not to mention the jump from its original cable TV home at Fox into Netflix’s grateful arms.

Though that move brought with it a lot of positives, it isn’t without its downsides, the most frustrating of which is the long wait between seasons. It has been a minute since we saw Lucifer leave Earth behind for the bleaker corridors of hell, and boy are we glad he is back!

Lucifer Season 5 Part 1 is here and it has been an exhilarating watch. We’ve put together a list of the top moments that, without doubt, have been the highlights of the first half of the season.

Warning: Spoilers for Lucifer Season 5 Part 1!

1. Michael’s Entrance

Lucifer Michael
This was a reveal that was intentionally spoiled when the trailer for season 5 was released, but that doesn’t make the moment when it came any less effective. For all of Michael’s flaws, you can’t fault his meticulous research and spot-on imitation of his twin brother.

This moment also serves as a callback to one of the funniest scenes of the show. Lucifer, seemingly aghast at Chloe’s insinuation that he’d walk into a room full of bad guys and say “Hello, drug dealers,” in the very next scene, stormed into the hideout of gun-totting Korean drug dealers and announced his arrival with the exact phrase in Korean.

2. Lucifer Misses Chloe

Tom Ellis as Lucifer - Lucifer
After we got a general idea of the amount of time that has passed for Lucifer in the time he left Los Angeles for hell, you’d think he’d have been better settled into his role as tormentor-in-chief and king of hell.

However, it only took the timely arrival of a damned soul with a connection to his beloved detective to shake the cobwebs off of Lucifer’s heart and have him longing to be reunited with Chloe.

So, when Amenadiel came knocking on hell’s door seeking his brother’s help, dear ole Lucy didn’t wait around to be asked a second time.

3. Michael’s Little White Lie

Tom Ellis as Michael - lucifer
Michael’s first misstep.

It is a known fact to everyone close to Lucifer that the devil is above a fib, whatever the situation is. This is something Michael clearly didn’t pay attention to as he, without missing a beat, joined in on Chloe’s lie to Ella about him having moved to Florida to handle personal business.

This singular act of dishonesty planted the first seed of doubt in Chloe that brought an end to Michael’s charade.

4. Chloe Goes to Therapy

Lauren German as Chloe Decker - Lucifer
Not sure what to make of faux Lucifer’s behavioral oddities, Chloe took a page out of the devil’s playbook and… went to therapy. And in true Lucifer-esque fashion, Linda’s relatively sound advice went in one ear and out through the other.

It has almost always been about how much Chloe was rubbing off on Lucifer, but this was a clear indication that Chloe had taken on some of Lucifer’s peculiarities as well, and no one was more startled by this development than Linda, who stood and looked on incredulously as Chloe went full Lucifer on her.

5. Maze and Michael’s Faux Pas

Tom Ellis, Lesley Ann-Brandt as Michael and Maze - Lucifer
Clearly, Michael put most of his time researching Lucifer into trying to nail his mannerisms and accent; otherwise, he’d have known it’d take a lot more than he was throwing at her to shake Chloe’s bond with Lucifer. To compensate for this, he went for the tried and tested move of infidelity — with Maze no less.

We’ll never be sure if the look of devastation on Chloe’s face when she walked in on them was genuine or not. Because if it wasn’t, then that was some A-grade acting skills, without any prep time, I might add. Are we sure Chloe didn’t make the wrong choice leaving the silver screen behind for law enforcement?

6. Michael’s Mojo

Tom Ellis as Michael - Lucifer
Despite initial resistance, Chloe had slowly come to rely on Lucifer’s ability to draw out people’s deepest desires in her investigations. When they weren’t making any headway in their interrogation of a suspect, that was “Lucifer’s” cue to burst out his favorite move.

Despite Michael’s best efforts, that dynamic isn’t something you can forge out of thin air.

Then came the moment that firmly placed the twin angels in stark contrast to each other. When he was expressly asked to use his mojo on a suspect, Michael stepped forward, looked him dead in the eye, and asked: “… What is it you truly fear?”

One word made something we’ve enjoyed seeing Lucifer do countless times turn scary.

7. Chloe’s Excellent Acting Skills

Lucifer Chloe Decker
In maintaining the high acting standards she had set for her herself, which had come up clutch in helping her throw Michael off the fact that she was onto him, the detective turned up the sexy to a hundred and had Michael with a lump in his throat long before she made her way to his loft.

After she got Michael in the position she wanted him (literally and metaphorically), she reached for her gun and shot him in the knee. Unsatisfied, she went ahead and emptied round after round in his chest as payback for attempting to trick her.

You’re not the only one who can lie Michael.

8. Lucifer is Back

Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro - lucifer

Juxtaposed with Michael’s, Lucifer’s reappearance was accompanied by nothing more than firecrackers compared to the dynamite reaction his snakey twin brother was greeted with, complete with a classic bad guys takedown, and understandably so.

After the ordeal she was put through by Michael, Chloe wasn’t in the mood to see anyone with Lucifer’s face, and even after being convinced that it truly was Lucifer standing before her she told him to go to hell, even if she was glad he came to check on her.

9. Lucifer and Chloe Meet El Diablo & Det. Dancer

El diablo and Detective Dancer - Lucifer
These two came at the perfect time (as they always do) when Lucifer and Chloe were just starting on their way to reconciliation. El Diablo and his partner held up a mirror to Lucifer and Chloe’s struggles just when they needed it.

Although it would’ve been fun to watch fictionalized caricatures of our favorite duo run around making bad puns, things took a dark turn when Chloe realized Detective Dancer had killed El Diablo. It showed Chloe how destructive her anger could be, justified though it may be.

10. Maze and Lucifer’s Reunion

Tom Ellis, Lesley Ann-Brandt as Lucifer and Maze - Lucifer
Maze’s path to total independence has been a long one, and definitely not without a few bumps along the way. Lucifer and Eve leaving almost at the same time only served to intensify her deep-seated feeling of abandonment, even if her rage is a little misplaced, as correctly pointed out by Lucifer.

Her path to hell, if she ever wished to return, was never obstructed by her lack of wings. Her confrontation with Lucifer made it clear she found it easier to simmer in her anger than come to terms with the fact that she’s no longer attached at the hip with her former boss.

11. Lucifer vs. Michael

Lucifer, Michael - Lucifer
After Lucifer’s return to Earth to set things right, it was inevitable that he’d clash with his brother. And though it was nice to see Lucifer take his pound of flesh, it was the words that were said during their confrontation that took us, Lucifer even more so, for a spin.

Was Lucifer’s rebellion his idea or Michael’s? And what about Eve’s original sin? Michael may have left their fight scarred and the bloodier of the two, but his words and mind games landed the most significant blows.

12. Maze Tracks Down Lilith

lily Rose as Lilith - Lucifer
After using Trixie to successfully extract the information she needed from Lucifer (which gave us the stylish noir episode), Maze wasted no time in tracking down her mother, who, apparently, had been living right under her nose the whole time.

Obviously, this was bound to bring up a lot of unresolved issues, mostly on Maze’s side. But then it got worse, because Lilith had absolutely no remorse, and if she did, then she did a fine job of hiding it which only served to anger Mazikeen even more.

13. Linda Meets her Daughter (kind of)

Rachel Harris as Linda Martin - Lucifer
Jaws were left ajar after the revelation that Linda had a daughter out there she had given up for adoption in the ’90s. Everyone watched with bated breath to see which path that storyline was headed in.

It remains unresolved at the conclusion of Season 5 Part 1, but it is an exciting development, which isn’t something that’s been said of any of Linda’s storylines in a while.

It also led to Linda and Maze posing as a couple looking to buy a house Linda’s daughter was selling, and those scenes were golden. Now we’ve just got to hope Linda arrives at a place where she’s ready to meet her daughter properly.

14. Amenadiel is Dishing out Punishments Now

Lucifer Amenadiel
After his crisis of faith that led to him losing his angelic status, it was certainly good to see Amenadiel out and about doing what he does best — punching bad guys. We’re not including the hilariously misguided attempts in the first episode.

Sure, Chloe was only using him as a stopgap measure while she was on the outs with Lucifer, but it was amazing to watch our new, doting father lay the hurt on a nasty individual who had disparaged and murdered his fiancée for choosing her faith over him.

15. Uncle Lucifer is on Baby Duty

Lucifer
With Linda absent, little Charlie was restless, and nothing the trio of Lucifer, Amenadiel, and Dan were doing was doing the trick in calming him down. Everyone was at his wits’ end, that was until Lucifer let his devil face out in a fit of rage, and that seemed to amuse Charlie a lot.

This led to the pivotal moment where Dan, tricked by Michael into returning to the house, saw Lucifer’s devil face in all its glory. As a result, a series of events were set in motion that led to some shocking twists.

16. Chloe and Lucifer Together, Finally!

Lucifer Deckerstar
Despite the twists and turns, and a good number of false dawns, we never lost hope.

Sure, it only took us 4 and a half seasons, but we’re here at last. A lot of slow-burn romances tend to underwhelm when they finally happen, but this… this was everything we’d hoped for and then some.

You wouldn’t find anything on TV more adorable than Lucifer and Chloe goofing around in bed in the morning after their first night together.

17. Ella’s Star Trek Connection

Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez - Lucifer
Without question, Ella is the kindest, sweetest, most cheerful character you’re ever likely to see; it’s almost inhuman.

Alas, no one is without a character flaw or two, and when it comes to Ella, one of those flaws is always getting involved with the wrong person. Who else remembers her one night stand with Dan? We’re glad time has done a good job of blocking that whole thing from our memory banks.

For that reason, it seemed too good to be true (spoiler: it was) when Ella found someone who seemed to genuinely care about her.

They even planned to attend a Star Trek convention together. Without the context of everything that came after that particular scene, at that moment, it looked like the stars had finally aligned for our girl.

18. Dan Shoots Lucifer
Kevin Alejandro as Dan, Lucifer Season 4 Episode 3

Michael’s plan to shake the core of his twin brother’s life was all starting to come together. A big part of that was outing Lucifer’s (not so hidden) secret to Dan, which sent him on a spiral, resulting in Dan having to take a few days off from work.

This was talked about in-depth during Kevin Alejandro’s exclusive interview.

Everything came to a head when Dan took it upon himself to be the world’s savior by killing the devil. This scene also mirrored another in the first season where Dan arrived at Lucifer’s to warn him of impending danger. How times have changed.

19. Lucifer is 100% Invulnerable

Tom Ellis as Lucifer- Lucifer
Just when we thought our favorite devil’s life was in mortal danger due to Chloe’s proximity, Lucifer quickly got back up, and we all breathed a collective sigh of relief.

We were glad Lucifer picked the perfect time to once again become bulletproof, but his regained invincibility also threatened to drive a wedge between our favorite couple due to Lucifer’s invulnerability (or lack thereof) being a physical representation of his emotional state around Chloe.

20. Daddy’s Home

Dennis Haysbert as God - Lucifer
The perfect moment to cap off the first half of the season! We’ve spent the four preceding seasons listening to Lucifer talk about his father (mostly in negative terms). God, if we’re going by Lucifer’s description, is a cold, distant parent who, paradoxically, is a huge proponent of helicopter parenting.

But this is Lucifer we’re talking about, and when it comes to his father he has proven to be a very biased source of information. If anything, God’s first words when he appeared went contrary to everything Lucifer would have us believe about him.

After all, seeing his children coming to blows brought him out of his self-imposed isolation, because like he said: He hates it when they fight.
