Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming film, Rebecca, which is based on Daphne du Maurier’s gothic novel of the same name.

This isn’t the first time Du Maurier’s novel has been adapted. Alfred Hitchcock adapted it in 1940, winning best picture. Netflix’s version is directed by Ben Wheatley, and he stated in an interview with Empire that his version is not a remake of Hitchcock’s film, but rather a new adaptation of the novel with a bit more focus on love.

“It’s part of trying to investigate other parts of being human. Rebecca has dark elements, and it has a psychological, haunting story within it, but it’s also about these two people in love,” explained Wheatley.
