Let’s close out the month of July with a few exciting premieres, series finales, and TV moments with this week’s Throwback Thursday. We are looking at the dates July 26th-August 1st in TV history.

There aren’t very many summer shows that have big moments in July, but we managed to find two really significant plot moments for Switched at Birth and Preacher.

With SDCC being done virtually this year due to everything going on, we decided it would be fun to look back at some of our fun SDCC interviews/articles from the past few years as well. We looked at interviews with the casts of big shows such as Supernatural, Teen Wolf, and The 100!

Fasten your seatbelts…it’s going to be a bumpy ride through TV History.

Major TV Moments:
First Major #Bemmett Gesture (Switched at Birth Season 1 Episode 9, “Paradise Lost”) (August 1, 2011)
Bemmett
Bemmett Billboard (Switched at Birth Season 1 Episode 9, “Paradise Lost”)

The biggest ship on Switched at Birth is the pairing between Bay Kennish and Emmett Bledsoe. During Season 1, they meet and start dating — secretly at first. Bay’s birthday is a perfect opportunity for Emmett to really show Bay how much he cares for her with the perfect gift.

Bay is an artist who loves to do anonymous street art and her biggest dream is to put her art on a billboard. So, Emmett surprises her on her birthday with just that — her art on an empty billboard.

Unfortunately, this action leads everyone to find out about their relationship as well as Emmett’s first brush with the law. Many people around them aren’t happy with this display of affection, but Emmett doesn’t ever regret it and the fans swoon over it.

Thus begins the long and complicated journey that is all part of rooting for this couple.

Introducing Herr Starr (Preacher Season 2 Episode 7, “Pig”) (July 31, 2017)

Throughout the majority of Preacher, one of Jesse’s biggest foes is Herr Starr. We don’t meet him until Season 2, but from the time he is introduced his presence is never far away from any moment.

Getting to witness Herr Starr’s initiation into The Grail is very eye-opening and informative as to what kind of foe he is going to be. It’s clear from the get-go that Jesse has his work cut out for him going up against this heartless man.

Herr Starr soon becomes one of The Grail’s most respected members — even moving on to be the All-Father by the final season. The introduction of this character marks the start of a very complex and artfully orchestrated relationship between Starr and Jesse.

Last year at the end of July we got to experience The Boys for the first time and our superhero hearts have never been the same.

We’re highlighting two shows that ended their series runs during this week in history.

Back in 1995, Northern Exposure ended its six-season run with a memorable finale. This finale started big names such as John Corbett, Barry Corbin, and Janine Turner.

Then in 2015, Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation closed out its final semester after 14 seasons. This drama was never afraid to go there on subjects that directly affect teens. So its impact remains even to this day.
