FBI Review: Legacy (Season 2 Episode 15)
A truck hijacking leads to OA questioning the very foundation upon which he joined the Bureau on FBI Season 2 Episode 15, “Legacy.”
In sports, we roll our eyes when a football or basketball game is described as “a tale of two halves.” The phrase is so cliche that it hurts, but in this episode’s case, it’s entirely true. The first thirty minutes of “Legacy” are akin to trekking through mud; establishing the exposition is slow and painful to the point of questioning whether it’s even worth finishing the hour.
Let the clock pass the halfway mark, though, and the payoff is worth the wait. OA is an exceptional human being. He’s a seasoned FBI agent and an accomplished war vet, yet he remains the most relatable character of the bunch.
His sole motivation to just do the right thing is so damn admirable in this day and age that he is easy to root for. This is why it’s so hard to see his confidence shaken upon learning that Mansor is still alive.

Easy to root for, yes. Perfect? Not so much. It sucks to learn that OA has a high horse, but all it shows is that he’s human like the rest of us.
It’s a facepalm kind of moment when OA’s old Army buddy tells the truth about the airstrike he thought took Mansor out. FBI’s Twitter account refers to it as OA “spiraling,” but that’s not entirely fair.
The original mission that took out Mansor is the brightest spot on OA’s resume. It’s the mission that caught the Bureau’s attention— hell, it’s the reason he is at the point in his life that he is. He’s not spiraling, he’s experiencing the nastiest case of Impostor Syndrome the US has ever seen.
This is where Maggie comes in, and thank the FBI Gods for her. She and OA always bring each other back to reality, and that is why their shared scenes are so criminally underrated.

Maggie reminds her partner that his buddy simply made a mistake, and that reminder is what allows him to trust said buddy and take Mansor down for good.
As we see in the final scene, taking down a terrorist cell that infiltrates the United States Military Academy is more fulfilling than any medal. And that’s reason #4,395 why we love OA Zidan.
The icing on the cake of this episode is that OA is not the only one who rediscovers his confidence. Kristen is back, y’all!
Having her back in the bullpen has been fantastic (still not over the time she mastered deep fakes), but she belongs in the field. I’m looking forward to seeing her start fresh as the field agent she has worked so hard to become.

A return to the field begs the question regarding Emily’s future. Does she stick around? If so, we need to learn more about her, and fast. Investing in a character is damn near impossible if we only know them in their profession, and not as a person.
