Legacies Review: This Christmas Was Surprisingly Violent (Season 2 Episode 8)
Christmas comes early for the boarding school, Rafael stumbles upon a family member he didn’t know he had, and Lizzie takes a road trip with Sebastian on Legacies Season 2 Episode 8, “This Christmas Was Surprisingly Violent.”
Tis the season for all things unholy as the Krampus makes his way to the boarding school after Clarke summons him to take him back to malivore. But, things take a turn when his father sends the Krampus to kill him instead.
This episode worked for me from the beginning to the end. Normally I’m not too fond of Christmas episodes on television, depending on the show, but this Christmas episode has just the right amount of love, action, and blood to make me fall for it. It’s also been a fun ride looking up stories of the Krampus after watching because I’ve never put the effort into research more about the lore.

The top moment of the episode is, hands down when Santa comes out of the toy bag and takes it upon himself to kill the Krampus. I’m not going to lie though, at first, it seemed like a trick and I fully expected them to have to kill Santa next. I’m glad that’s not the case. Santa ripping the Krampus’ heart out with bare hands is the most badass thing I think I’ve seen on the show.
For the first time since turning back human, Rafael is having a genuinely happy moment in life after finding his birth father, even after finding out his birth mother is gone. I think it’s a special moment to see Raf enjoying himself and looking happier than ever because he continues to think that he’s alone when it comes to blood family and now that’s no longer the case.

I hope that Raf decides to take a few days and spend some time with his newly found father that way he can have some closure and genuine moments with him before leaving for school again.
Now, while I’m glad Landon points Raf in the right direction to his father it still infuriates me that he would attempt to leave in the middle of the night without saying anything. At some point, the self-pity party has gotten a little old after time and time again of people proving that he doesn’t have to do everything alone.
Thank gosh for Lizzie to the rescue because if she had stalled any longer she would’ve missed him. However, I don’t like that she decides to bring Sebastian with her because it’s clear as day that there’s something off about him.

His fascination with Lizzie is weird and I hate that they had sex only because he seems like the type to think that she’s his now. I see some big plot twists coming from Sebastian in the future.
While I am happy that Landon and Hope have professed their love for each other and have finally gotten it over with, I’m still upset for Josie and her role in the whole situation because she continues to get hurt.
I want one episode to be happy, cheerful, and bright through the entire thing just to enjoy everyone having a nice life and break from all of the madness. I think that an episode around Josie, Lizzie, and Hope going on a road trip would be beautiful, as long as they get to do fun things and not fight monsters the whole time. I wouldn’t mind seeing Freya again this season.

Other Thoughts:
- Dorian’s sweater is the absolute best.
- I’m beyond ecstatic to have Alaric as headmaster again.
- The necromancer being the red hooded figure is not something I would have ever guessed. I am glad that Clarke is gone though.

This show continues to frustrate me.
The it’s do busy making hope seem like a bad ass even the actress isn’t trying anymore. Her first exchange with the Krampus was ridiculous.
Also when did the TVD universe become so cartoonish? I keep hoping it will change but God.
