Single Parents Review: Welcome to Hell, Sickos! (Season 2 Episode 6)

Reviews, Single Parents

It’s Halloween on Single Parents Season 2 Episode 6, “Welcome to Hell, Sickos!” It’s a time for amazing costumes, fun Halloween events, and all-around spookiness.  For the most part, “Welcome to Hell, Sickos!,” delivers.

The kids’ costumes and the fact that they are a surprise is super cute and lots of fun. It would have been great to see each of them interact with their adult counterparts more, and the Jewish Will bit comes out of left field.

Still, it’s a cute idea, and Douglas figuring it out before anyone else is amazing all on its own.

Speaking of Douglas, he has the best storyline of the night. He’s been room parent for a couple months now, but we haven’t really heard about it since he got the job on Single Parents Season 2 Episode 2, “Graham Fought the Bones and the Bones Won,” so it’s about time this came back up again.

The news that he’s terrible at it isn’t that big of a shock, but it is revealed in a super sweet scene between him, Emma, and Amy.

They have such a strange relationship, and usually it’s showcased for laughs or for general weirdness, so it’s been great that we’ve seen a softer side of them this season.

Single Parents Season 2 Episode 6 Jack

Emma and Amy admitting to decorating the classroom so their classmates could see Douglas the way they do is ridiculously adorable and heartwarming. It’s the best scene of the hour, for sure.

I hope we get to see more sweet moments between the three of them. Single Parents currently isn’t really utilizing their dynamic, and it could lead to some wonderful moments.

The other storylines on Single Parents Season 2 Episode 6 aren’t as successful.

Single Parents Season 2 Episode 6 Spooky

Miggy’s is just….Miggy’s. It’s weird and endearing. Why does he think telling the neighbors Will and Sophie are dead is spooky?

What would have really helped is if we either got flashbacks of what Will typically does or had a bit more of Will training Miggy or giving him spooky ideas or something.

The flashbacks would have been absolutely hilarious, and it’s a little sad that we don’t get to see Will go all out for Halloween. Instead, his storyline is all about showing the progress in his relationship with Tracy.

Single Parents Season 2 Episode 6 Graham

It’s not the most hilarious storyline they’ve done, but Will in the straight jacket is decently funny.

The fact that Sophie is willing to spend time with Tracy is a big deal. This means Will and Tracy are serious enough for Will to start involving Tracy into your Sohpie’s life. She might even interact with the village more, which could be fun.

Then, there’s Angie and Poppy.

They should have been a blast to watch. Instead, we are treated to a non-funny storyline where they try to prove they are cool. It’s beyond disappointing, especially considering it’s been a while since they hung out solo.

  • VERY disappointed with the whole characature of Will as Jewish. It’s completely random, presented as a bad/weak thing to be, and based on old tropes about jews. So disappointed.

    • It was so random!! I still don’t understand where it came from. And then, like you said, it’s presented as a negative. The joke could have been that she thought he was something other than a meteorologist or she mocked him for being one or something. A disappointing moment in a disappointing episode.
