Though every magical or supernaturally inclined student at Belgrave University had a rough end of the year on The Order Season 1, Randall Carpio (played by Adam DiMarco) had one of the notably harsher experiences.

From being manipulated, poked, prodded, and studied to having his memory wiped, it was a difficult end to the season for the lightest and funniest member of the secret werewolf society.

Adam DiMarco sat down with reporters at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about Randall’s road to the finale, adding a comedic element to a genre project, and what may lay ahead for the Knights.

“He’s [Randall] a pre-med idiot [laughs], werewolf that really bonds with Jack Morton – Jake [Manley]’s character—and basically decides for him that this guy is going to join our crew.”

DiMarco adds that Randall’s actions come from a well-intentioned place. However, it doesn’t quite work out that way for Jack.

“He [Jack] didn’t really get a choice. It was just something that was decided for him, and it really puts him in a tricky spot because he was trying to get into the order to get revenge for his mother’s death. Then again, he should be thanking me. You’re welcome,” DiMarco laughed.

With the events of the final moments in The Order finale, though, the Knights of St. Christopher have a chance at a clean slate (technically). How will that work out for them, though?

“To start Season 2, we all have no memory essentially. But we still have these hides, inside of us. So, it poses an interesting question we’re not aware, we are werewolves. How could that potentially come out in interesting ways,” DiMarco says.

The actor adds that it’s more than the hides that could tip them off to these erased memories.

“A lot of being a knight is hearing the ringing of magic and choosing to respond to it or not. But if you hear that ringing and you don’t even know what’s happening in your own body, what’s going to happen. Maybe some accidental transformations. Maybe some comedy will come out of that?”

The latest role on The Order isn’t DiMarco’s first foray into magical realms, having played the role of Todd on The Magicians. When asked about the comparison between the two characters, he believes that there is one big difference.

“They do share some similarities. But Todd doesn’t think he’s cool at all. Whereas, Randall just thinks he’s the shit. But he’s not [laughs]. It’s definitely fun to get to play these comedic characters on these shows.”

The Order is set to begin production soon, with Season 2 slated to return in 2020.
