Top 15 Episodes of Killjoys
The final season is almost here. While we wait to see how our favorite killjoys’ stories end, why not take a look back at some of the series’ top episodes?
This article does contain spoilers, so if you haven’t seen Killjoys, please immediately leave this article and go stream the show on Syfy on Demand or online at Syfy.com (sadly, it’s the only streaming option available). You will not regret it.
In chronological order, here are my picks for the top episodes of Killjoys:
1. Kiss Kiss, Bye Bye (Season 1 Episode 7)

This hour puts us through the wringer.
First, we witness Dutch and D’av open up to each other and grow closer as they bond over their trauma. We get flirtatious vibes and emotional heart to hearts during “Kiss Kiss, Bye Bye.”
It’s sweet to see how these two began…you know until the sleeper soldier switch is flipped, and Dutch is fighting for her life.
Dutch: I’m not judging you right now because I don’t have any right to. So whatever you’ve done, I promise you I have done worse. If you can’t be forgiven, then what chance is there for me?
The sleeper soldier switch allows for some excellent, heartwrenching moments in addition to giving us answers. “Kiss Kiss, Bye Bye” is beautifully emotional and devastating.
2. Dutch and the Real Girl (Season 2 Episode 1)

Killjoys does a masterful job of giving us complex villains. Nothing is black and white.
All of Season 1, we focused on learning why Khlyen should be feared to the point where even Khlyen breathing was suspect. Then, “Dutch and the Real Girl” starts to shift our perception of Khlyen.
The possibility that Khlyen isn’t the bad guy or rather the main bad guy that Dutch needs to be worried about is fascinating. Suddenly the man that was the big bad last season could actually be on the same side as Dutch.
It is weird and absolutely intriguing to consider, and this shift is so well done.
Another reason “Dutch and the Real Girl” makes this list is because Pree joins the rescue mission. He’s an absolute delight behind the bar, but this time around, he gets to really be a part of the team out on a mission.
This means more Pree sass, and he and Johnny go undercover as husbands. Hilarious doesn’t even begin to cover it.
3. How to Kill Friends and Influence People (Season 2 Episode 10)

It’s always a good time when your core team is forced to team up with people they previously fought against. Khlyen and Fancy working alongside Dutch, D’av, and Johnny is ridiculously entertaining, especially D’av and Fancy’s little partnership.
Johnny: Speaking as a member of the Shitty Dad’s club, you don’t have to forgive someone to miss them, and you don’t need anyone’s permission to love someone that you hate.
Khlyen and Dutch working together highlights their complicated relationship and the complexity of Khlyen as a character. You never quite know whether or not you can trust Khlyen, but during the hour, there are moments where you just know that he is telling the truth.
Khlyen’s sacrifice is utterly unexpected. It’s a powerful scene, and his final moments with Dutch are amazing.
4. Boondoggie (Season 3 Episode 1)

“Boondoogie” delivers some progress on the Hullen front while expanding the world by delving more into hackmods, and, surprisingly, the Hullen are afoot in the hackmod world as well.
It’s interesting to see Johnny splintered off from Dutch and D’av. Killjoys makes it work, and even though we want to see them reunited, it’s entertaining to see how Johnny does on his own and how Dutch and D’av fare without him.
Team Awesome Force adds some members to its ranks, allowing new relationships to be explored, like D’av and Fancy, and they are always a blast. We also meet Pippin!
D’av: Hey, remember when we used to just catch bad guys? Yeah, that was fun.
The scenes featuring Johnny and Dutch leaving and listening to messages to each other give “Boondoogie” some sweet, emotional moments that help ground the hour which is otherwise filled with hackmods, banter, and Hullen.
5. The Lion, the Witch, and the Warlord (Season 3 Episode 4)

There’s so much to love about this hour: Pree’s past comes to light, D’av and Johnny’s relationship gets some attention, Zeph and D’av spend some quality time together, and Dutch and Johnny work out their issues with competition and some truth serum.
It’s an all around good time.
D’av gets to play the protective older brother role, which isn’t something that gets focused on often. Then, he teams up with Zeph, which provides tons of laughs because Zeph doesn’t quite get any of D’av’s jokes.
D’av: As much as I love being your guinea bitch, Zeph, me and my nipples are off limits until you can do some more research.
Johnny and Dutch finally air out their grievances in the most entertaining and competitive way possible.
After all that time apart, the two of them had a lot to work through. Of course, this is Killjoys, so the heart to heart involves Dutch and Johnny captured, chained up, and engaged in some competition.
Who wants to watch people mend fences with a boring old chat by the fire anyway?
6. The Wolf You Feed (Season 3 Episode 7)

This hour treats us to the initial meeting of a thief and a queen. Johnny and Dutch’s first encounter is absolutely fantastic, as is Johnny’s and Lucy’s.
“The Wolf You Feed” shows us that Johnny and Dutch’s relationship hasn’t changed much since they first met. Johnny has always and will always look out for Dutch.
Aneela: All girls are filled with magic, so bit by bit, day by day, year by year, the girl saved her magic and hid it from the man until she could escape her tower.
Another stellar moment in this hour is the reveal that Dutch and Aneela are the same person. The twist challenges your initial view of Aneela and Dutch. It is excellently done and left everyone, especially Dutch, reeling.
With Dutch preoccupied with her plasma trip down memory lane, D’av gets the change to shine. He steps into a role that he proves he’s fit for and not just because of the plasma running through his veins or because of his relationship with Dutch.
D’av gets it done all on his own.
7. Wargasm (Season 3 Episode 10)

“Wargasm” gives everyone a moment in the war. Nothing feels forced or out of place, and everyone has a job to do and gets to do it, which is impressive given the size of the ensemble.
After all this build up, Aneela and Dutch are finally in the same room together, and the showdown does not disappoint.
Dutch: Those memories are my whole life. What you gave me, and what you are taking from me. My entire existence has been hidden by you, by Khlyen, from the green. If you win today, I disappear. Well, I am done with shadows. I am going to kill you now, Aneela, which will end me too. I accept dying, but I was here. I was real, and I mattered, and I will not be forgotten.
Hannah John-Kamen really does deserve all the awards. Dutch and Aneela’s fight scene is insane, and you forget that Aneela and Dutch are played by the same person. It’s that good.
What’s even better is Aneela flipping the script and revealing the dangers of The Lady to Dutch. No one expects Dutch and Aneela to join forces and slip into the green, but that’s exactly what happens, setting up an exciting Season 4.
8. The Warrior Princess Bride (Season 4 Episode 1)

All other origin stories should take notes.
“The Warrior Princess Bride” is a love letter to Dutch and Johnny, and it’s done beautifully. We learn how the two became killjoys, and we get to see them feel each other out and settle into the rhythm of working together as a team.
Khlyen: When you are lost, when you are breaking, when you have no strength left to fight her, find John Jaqobis. He is your true north, your only way home.
Khlyen’s story captivates us and reminds us just how much we love Johnny and Dutch. We’re treated to Johnny in eyeliner, the moment Yalena became Dutch, a swoon-worthy dance, and so much banter.
Killjoys proves that it knows when to slow things down and put in some excellent character work.
9. Bro-d Trip (Season 4 Episode 3)

Man, Hullen!Johnn is a dick. However, it’s wildly entertaining to see this version of Johnny dealing with D’av and his Dutch hallucinations.
In addition to watching some intensely enjoyable Jaqobis banter, “Bro-d Trip” gives us an in-depth look at how plasma can change a person. We’ve never really been able to watch someone go through the transformation of becoming Hullen; the closest we’ve gotten is with Delle Seyah, but it’s not as if she was a model citizen before she was Hullen.
Pree: So, what do we do with this?
Delle Seyah: You take this with you because she nearly destroyed a galaxy and needs a shower and a nap.
Pree: Do not try me on for size because this bitch be deputized.
Speaking of Delle Seyah, she continues to win people over more and more with each passing episode. The decision to throw her into the mix with Team Awesome Force was an absolutely excellent decision.
10. Greening Pains (Season 4 Episode 5)

“Greening Pains” features our fave trio being killjoys again after battling Hullen!Johnny and getting Dutch back from the green. It’s a fun mission that reminds us of the good ole days where we weren’t aware of the looming threat that is The Lady.
There’s nothing better than a heist. And this one has a Killjoys spin featuring masks, run-throughs complete with commentary, and D’av high on stimulants. What more could you ask for?
Johnny: You want to stop feeling bad, Delle Seyah? Stop being a shitty person. Do the work.
Delle Seyah: Well, who do I pay to do that?
The rest of the hour is just as delightful. Gared and Fancy team up. Johnny and Dutch argue about how really went down during their first mission, and finally figure out that Khlyen left them a coded message.
