Preview — The 100 Season 6 Episode 2: Red Sun Rising
The 100 is finally back and if the first episode of Season 6 is any indication we are in for a wild ride in Book II. Fans have been asking for the writers to lock these characters in a room and have them talk about their feelings for a long time and it looks like they might actually get their wish on The 100 Season 6 Episode 2, “Red Sun Rising.”
On “Sanctum” Clarke, Bellamy, and the others arrived to find the city abandoned and Planet Alpha in the middle of a pretty dangerous natural phenomenon.
Directed by Alex Kalymnios and written by doodle aficionado Jeff Vlaming “Red Sun Rising” sees our heroes on the ground trying to keep themselves from killing each other while suffering from the effects of the double sun eclipse. Meanwhile, on the Eligius Mothership, Octavia seems to have put herself in a new version of her bunker death ring.
Kalymnios has directed standout episodes over the past two seasons of The 100, including “The Chosen” and “The Dark Year.” “Red Sun Rising” is sure to put our emotions through the wringer and have us on the edge of our seats as Season 6 kicks into high gear.
“Face your demons” is The 100 Season 6’s tagline and this episode is clearly already dabbling in that. The Eclipse Induced Psychosis on the ground is messing with the whole team, bringing out the worst in all of them.
Clarke: Is that what you want to hear, that I’m the bad guy? Fine, I’ll be the bad guy.
We also can’t forget that someone from the ground hi-jacked the transport ship on the last moments of “Sanctum.” Something tells me our first introduction to these people may not be so friendly, but I am super excited to finally learn more about who they are, what they want, and how they’ve been surviving on Planet Alpha for the past 200 years.
The teaser for this episode is brief, but it appears that The 100 is continuing to explore the conflict between Abby and Octavia. Their relationship is rich with narrative content and I, for one, can’t wait to see the show dive into it.
