TV News Wrap-Up: ‘Killing Eve’ Snags Early Season 3 Renewal, ‘The Crown’ Casts Princess Di, Netflix Announces ‘Lucifer’ Season 4 Premiere
Going into the second week of April means a lot of series are winding down their episode runs, but it also means that it’s time for new summer TV and cancellations and renewals.

Netflix has announced Lucifer Season a premiere date. Netflix has announced that Lucifer will premiere on May 8th with a teaser video of Tom Ellis coming out a swimming pool. The fourth season will contain ten episodes. Lucifer was saved by the streaming giant after it was cancelled by Fox after its third season which ended with Detective Chloe Decker, Lauren German finding out that the true identity of her partner. This upcoming season means that fans won’t have to wait to see the fallout from that long-awaited scene.

American Horror Story will be heading to summer camp circa 1984 for Season 9. According to Polygon, the newest installment entitled American Horror Story: 1984 and will pay tribute to 1980s slasher films. Season 9 will star Emma Roberts with Olympic Silver Medalist Gus Kenworthy playing her boyfriend. American Horror Story vet Evan Peters is reportedly sitting out this new season, and Sarah Paulson has not confirmed her involvement with the newest season.

TV Land gives Younger June premiere date. Deadline reports that the TV Land series will premiere on June 12th. Younger Season 6 will feature Kelsey getting used to her new role as publisher at Millenial Print while Liza and Charles get used to their new normal now that Charles is no longer running the business.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has finally revealed it’s Season 3 episode count. A TV Line exclusive revealed that the third season of the Amazon series will consist of eight episodes. Production for the series is currently underway ahead of a late 2019 premiere. Amy Sherman Palladino previous stated while the exact episode count was under debate earlier this year, “Amazon has given us some flexibility so we can see what stories we have. And we want to see what we can produce without killing everybody, including ourselves.”

Renewals & Cancellations
Killing Eve has received an early Season 3 renewal with a new showrunner. According to The Hollywood Reporter, after the show premiered Sunday April 7th, the cast and crew were surprised by a renewal Monday morning at summit for AMC Newtorks. In keeping with the tradition of passing the baton to new female writing voices, British writer Suzanne Heathcote, from Fear the Walking Dead, will take over for Emerald Fennell, who previously took over for Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

CBS has renewed NCIS for Season 17. It’s no surprise that one of television’s most-watched shows has gotten a 17th season. According to Variety the show brings in approximately 16 million in delayed viewership and is the network’s second highest-rated sitcom behind The Big Bang Theory.

AMC has announced that Preacher is ending with Season 4. The announcement was made Monday by Seth Rogan who broke the news on Twitter. The video also announced that the final season will begin on August 4th.

Barry has been renewed for Season 3 on HBO. According to Entertainment Weekly, the series about reluctant hitman and aspiring actor Barry Block has been called back for an encore performance after beginning it’s second season on March 31st.

NBC has renewed Good Girls for a third season. Variety reports that Beth, Annie, and Ruby will get a third season in their attempts to balance their life of crime with their families. Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming at NBC Entertainment said, “We’re so excited to continue following the friendship and adventures of these three incredible women while also exploring relatable issues in both funny and surprising ways. Congratulations to Jenna Bans, and our amazing writers, cast and crew who give these stories depth and humanity.”

Casting News
The Crown Season 4 has cast it’s Princess Di. Deadline reports that newcomer Emma Corrin will play the iconic Princess of Wales. Corrin says, “Beyond excited and honoured to be joining The Crown for its fourth season. I have been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal. Princess Diana was an icon, and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring. To be given the chance to explore her through Peter Morgan’s writing is the most exceptional opportunity, and I will strive to do her justice!”
