ATX Television Festival Programming: ‘Veronica Mars,’ ‘One Day at a Time,’ and More Announced
The ATX Television Festival is less than two months away, and we’re already counting down the days. The festival, which will take place from June 6-9 this year in Austin, Texas, is continuing to announce exciting programming for TV fans.
This year is the eighth year of the festival, and it’s shaping up to be a memorable one already. The second wave of programming was announced yesterday.
Hulu’s highly-anticipated Veronica Mars revival will host a panel discussion with creatives and cast ahead of the series’ upcoming fourth season, which picks up after the events of the crowd-funded film continuation. Panelists will be announced at a later date.
Additionally, Season 8 of the festival will feature a premiere screening of Into the Dark: Culture Shock, the July installment of Hulu and Blumhouse Television’s horror event series Into the Dark.
Following the screening, writer and director Gigi Saul Guerrero will be joined by cast members for a Q&A conversation about the episode. Additional panelists will be announced at a later date.
This year’s festival will also feature a screening and Q&A for the Canadian comedy Letterkenny, which streams stateside on Hulu and was renewed for four additional seasons last December, as well as just announced its first U.S. tour dates. Director/executive producer/cast member Jacob Tierney, executive producer Mark Montefiore, and cast members Nathan Dales, Michelle Mylett and K. Trevor Wilson are confirmed to join the Q&A.
Another exciting announcement yesterday is the return of One Day at a Time to the festival. The cast and creatives of One Day at a Time will participate in a screening and conversation about the recently canceled series (though we’re still hoping for a save!).

Confirmed participants include executive producer Mike Royce and cast members Justina Machado, Isabella Gomez, Todd Grinnell, and Stephen Tobolowsky. And this will be a return for Justina Machado and Isabella Gomez, who were part of last year’s One Day at a Time panel.
Advisory Board member and writer/creator Beau Willimon will also return to conduct an intimate, interactive talk about the creative process in which the audience becomes the panel. The festival promises that this will be “a one-of-a-kind experience.” We have no doubt that’s true!
Willimon will also take part in the panel conversation, “A Playwright Walks Into a Writers Room…,” featuring writers and executives who made the transition from theater to television in a discussion about the unique challenges of writing for both stage and screen, and what this trend means for both industries moving forward.
Vida creator/showrunner Tanya Saracho and Bad Robot’s Senior Vice President of Television, Rachel Rusch, are confirmed to join. Additional panelists will be announced soon.
